Role Description
The Shift Incharge is responsible for managing day-to-day production activities during the assigned shift, ensuring smooth plant operations, meeting output targets, maintaining quality standards, and coordinating with maintenance, quality, stores, and packing teams. The role also ensures discipline, safety, hygiene, and proper shift handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all production activities during the shift and ensure planned output is achieved.
- Allocate manpower, monitor attendance, and ensure proper deployment of operators and helpers.
- Ensure machines, raw materials, and packing materials are available before starting production.
- Monitor machine performance, line efficiency, wastage, and downtime, and take immediate corrective action where possible.
- Coordinate with maintenance team for breakdowns and preventive maintenance issues.
- Ensure product quality, hygiene, and food safety standards are followed throughout the shift.
- Check that SOPs, batch records, production logs, and shift reports are properly maintained.
- Work closely with quality team for rejection control, process deviations, and corrective actions.
- Maintain discipline, safety, cleanliness, and compliance on the shop floor.
- Prepare and submit shift handover reports, highlighting production achieved, issues, breakdowns, shortages, and pending work.
- Support training of operators and new workers on process, safety, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG production environment.
- Diploma / ITI / Graduate preferred, depending on experience.
- Good understanding of production operations, manpower handling, and shop floor discipline.
- Basic knowledge of quality, safety, hygiene, and machine handling.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
