Chennai Yoga Studio (CYS) is one of Chennai's leading wellness brands, committed to helping people live healthier, calmer and more conscious lives through yoga, movement, philosophy and community.

Today, CYS is more than a yoga studio. We operate multiple studio locations, teacher training programs, retreats, children's programs, corporate wellness initiatives and community events. As we enter our next phase of growth, we're looking for an exceptional leader to help us build an organisation that is scalable, purpose-driven and operationally excellent.

This is a high-impact leadership role working directly with the Founder.

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of Chennai Yoga Studio while helping shape the company's long-term growth. You will oversee people, systems, financial performance and operational excellence, ensuring the organisation runs smoothly while preserving the culture and values that make CYS unique.

This is not an administrative role.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building organisations, leading people and solving complex problems. For the right person, this role has the potential to evolve into a Managing Director position as the company grows.

• Lead and oversee the daily operations across all CYS locations.
• Build and improve systems, SOPs and operational processes.
• Ensure consistent execution and service standards across the organisation.
• Manage facilities, vendors and operational resources.

• Recruit, lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching conversations.
• Build a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Support and mentor department heads and studio teams.
  

• Manage operational budgets and expenses.
• Monitor business performance, profitability and cash flow.
• Review financial reports and recommend improvements.
• Drive operational efficiency while maintaining quality.
  

• Ensure every member has an exceptional experience.
• Build systems to improve customer retention and referrals.
• Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and proactively.
• Continuously improve the member journey.
  

• Support expansion into new locations and business verticals.
• Lead strategic projects from planning to execution.
• Identify opportunities for operational and commercial improvement.
• Partner with the Founder on long-term business strategy.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Hospitality or a related field.
• 5+ years of leadership or operations experience.
• Experience managing cross-functional teams.
• Strong commercial and financial understanding.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of organisational and project management ability.
  

Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable:

• Hospitality
• Boutique wellness
• Premium retail
• Education
• Healthcare
• Consumer services
• High-growth startups

A background in yoga is not required. Alignment with our mission and values is.
