Job Description

Role: Academic Head – Own Schools


Reporting To: CXO Own Schools with dotted line to Promoter


Role Purpose: The Academic Head will drive academic excellence, curriculum implementation, teacher capability development, and student outcomes across all own schools. The role focuses on improving learning outcomes, strengthening school leadership, and implementing best practices aligned with organizational goals and LEAD standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure best-in-class implementation of LEAD curriculum across all schools with high fidelity and consistency.
  • Develop and implement annual and term-wise academic plans for all schools.
  • Drive student learning outcomes and achieve mastery benchmarks across grades.
  • Monitor curriculum completion, classroom delivery quality, and lesson plan implementation.
  • Design and conduct teacher training and capability-building programs.
  • Develop principal leadership training modules and mentor school leaders.
  • Implement innovative academic initiatives and learning improvement programs across schools.
  • Introduce remediation, enrichment, and competency-based learning interventions.
  • Ensure structured implementation of co-curricular and extracurricular programs.
  • Participate in teacher recruitment and build strong academic teams.
  • Generate weekly and monthly academic reports with actionable insights.
  • Monitor academic KPIs and ensure continuous improvement across all schools.
  • Benchmark academic practices with leading institutions and implement best practices.
  • Pilot new academic products, learning solutions, and company initiatives across schools to evaluate effectiveness and scalability.
  • Collect structured feedback from Principals, teachers, students, and parents on new product implementation and learning impact.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in academic leadership roles within K-12 education.
  • Graduate/Postgraduate with strong academic orientation; fellows from programs such as Teach For India (TFI), Azim Premji Foundation, Gandhi Fellowship, or similar educational leadership programs will be preferred.
  • B.Ed. will be an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum implementation, pedagogy, student learning outcomes, and school improvement frameworks.
  • Proven academic leadership and curriculum planning capabilities across multiple grades/schools.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to drive innovation, teacher development, and measurable improvement in student outcomes.
  • Strong data interpretation and problem-solving mindset with execution focus.
