Poornima University, Jaipur invites applications from dynamic, passionate, and academically accomplished professionals for the position of Assistant Professor – Pattern Making & Garment Construction in the Department of Design & Arts .


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Pattern Making, Garment Construction, Draping, Apparel Manufacturing, and related subjects.
  • Develop course content, lesson plans, and practical studio exercises aligned with industry standards.
  • Conduct practical demonstrations and supervise pattern development, garment construction, and fitting sessions.
  • Mentor students in academic projects, portfolio development, competitions, and internships.
  • Engage in curriculum development, research, innovation, and industry collaborations.
  • Participate in departmental activities, accreditation processes, and institutional initiatives.


Essential Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Fashion Technology, Costume Design, or a relevant discipline from a recognized university.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design/Fashion Technology/Apparel Design or an allied field.
  • NET/Ph.D. will be preferred as per UGC/AICTE/University norms (where applicable).


Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in flat pattern making, draping, garment construction techniques, grading, and apparel production.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial sewing machines and garment finishing techniques.
  • Knowledge of textile properties, garment fitting, quality standards, and production processes.
  • Proficiency in pattern-making software such as Gerber, Lectra, TUKAcad , or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Good communication, mentoring, and presentation skills.


Experience

  • 0–5 years of teaching, industry, or research experience in Pattern Making and Garment Construction.
  • Candidates with relevant industrial experience in apparel manufacturing or fashion production are encouraged to apply.
