Full Job Description

CEO of Animal Welfare (One lakh to two lakhs per month depending on experience, 6day/week, on-site)

Youth Organisation in Defence of Animals (YODA) runs a 5000 sq.foot shelter in the heart of Bandra, Mumbai housing about 50-80 domestic animals (mostly dogs and cats) at any given point of time having a clinic facility and 10 staff members. 


An exciting opportunity to work as the CEO. The current shelter manager  will be assistant to the new manager and will help ramp up the activities and staff relations.


The ideal candidate will manage the overall operations of the company as well as develop and implement strategies that meet the needs of the customers, the stakeholders, and the employees. They will be responsible for making key decisions and executing the culture of the company. 

Responsibilities

  • Take lead across all aspects of the company by reviewing how departments work together
  • Make key decisions that will affect the company's direction
  • Build a positive and productive culture in the workplace
  • Ensuring animals in the shelter have everything they need
  • Supervising and leading shelter employees
  • Developing operational procedures
  • Interacting with donors and well wishers 
  • Ordering supplies
  • Giving tours of the shelter
  • Representing the shelter at community and fundraising events
  • Creating and maintaining budgets
  • Preparing reports and paperwork


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • MBA
  • 5+ years' experience in business related field
  • Strong leadership, decision making and communication skills


To be a successful applicant:


  • Compassion:  Love of animals and kindness toward them and their helpers, fosters, and potential owners is a must for this type of position
  • Physical stamina:  When working directly with animals, CEO may need to kneel, crawl, bend, and be on their feet
  • Communication skills:  CEO must interact regularly with staff members and the public about adoption and fundraising events, as well as the needs of the animals
  • Financial management skills:  CEOs must oversee a budget and plan fundraising initiatives
  • Comfort with tech:  Since they will largely be concerned with administrative duties, animal CEO should have solid computer skills including familiarity with using popular record keeping and word processing programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management software)



People in this role must be able to handle chaotic environments and situations that could cause stress. The kennel area in a shelter is often loud with unpleasant odours, and the animals often come from disturbing situations in which they were harmed or neglected.
