Overview: As a Technical Manager – Production at Alliance University Online, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing our production processes. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our technical production facilities while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of successful production management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic production plans aligned with organizational objectives, considering factors such as market demand, resource availability, and technological advancements.

2. Production Optimization: Continuously evaluate production workflows and processes to identify opportunities for optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction.

3. Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain rigorous quality control measures to ensure that products meet or exceed industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance.

4. Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and motivate a multidisciplinary team of production technicians, engineers, and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

5. Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, quality, cost, and safety, and provide regular reports and analysis to senior management.

6. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in production processes and implement proactive measures to mitigate risks, minimize downtime, and ensure business continuity.

7. Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to maximize productivity while minimizing waste and inefficiency.

8. Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the production team, encouraging feedback, innovation, and the implementation of best practices and emerging technologies.

9. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including research and development, engineering, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of production activities with overall business objectives.

10. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, maintaining accurate records and documentation as necessary.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in production management within a technical environment, preferably in the academic sector.
3. Experience in EdTech or online education sector is highly preferred.
4. Significant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and related experience in technical operations, production management, and activities, including sound reinforcement, video production and presentation, production lighting, rigging, and logistics.
5. Experience with industry-standard software for content development, content delivery, and event design.
6. Proficiency in VectorWorks, Visio and Adobe Creative Cloud applications preferred.
7. Familiarity with AI and LLM technologies and their applications in natural language processing and data analysis.
8. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve excellence.
9. In-depth knowledge of production processes, quality control standards, and safety regulations.
10. Proven track record of implementing process improvements and achieving operational excellence.
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
12. Proficiency in project management tools and software.
