About the Role
The purpose of this role is to promote the services of the headspace service, help young people to get early access to health and other services, and promote positive mental health messaging within their local communities. This includes young people who have or may be at risk of developing a mental health and/or substance use disorder or have economic and social recovery needs.
The CDO provides accessible information to increase the capacity of young people to connect with appropriate health and wellbeing supports at the time they are needed. They will also help to increase community awareness of mental health issues among young people, facilitate youth and where relevant family participation, as well as arrange and deliver health promotion activities and community events to engage identified target populations.
The CDO works as part of a multidisciplinary team and will be an experienced professional with considerable knowledge and experience in community engagement and youth advocacy. They will work collaboratively with the headspace Inala team to help ensure the service delivers youth-focused services to young people.
About You
We’re looking for a team member, who has a minimum two years’ experience working in community service or similar, to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of a Community Awareness and Engagement Strategy for headspace Inala in consultation with the youth advisory group (YAG), Centre Manager and other key stakeholders.
You will be responsible for:

Design and coordination of activities and projects for priority groups and the greater community

Supporting the production of documents and promotional materials

Representing headspace with various agencies and professional networks

Building and maintaining community connections and relationships that align with the overall strategic plan and Community Awareness and Engagement Strategy

Leading all external service promotion activities informed by headspace National campaigns and key events

Ensuring compliance with headspace Model Integrity Framework and brand compliance

Assisting in the planning, development and delivery of community-based help seeking and mental health literacy education sessions

Supporting an annual community and health promotion plan

Assisting with organising relevant community events and activities

Recruiting, training, supervising and supporting young people to be involved in the headspace service Youth Reference Group
