About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer who understands what it takes to build scalable data-extraction systems and robust automation services.

You’ll lead the design and implementation of high-volume scraping pipelines, distributed crawlers, and resilient APIs that power our next-generation AI products.

Key Responsibilities

Web Scraping & Bot Evasion

Architect and maintain distributed web crawlers capable of operating at scale while handling rate limits, rotating proxies, CAPTCHAs, and other anti-bot measures.

Design strategies to adapt to frequent changes in website structures and anti-automation tactics.

Backend Architecture & Services

Design, build, and optimize high-performance microservices/APIs using modern frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Node.js, Go, or similar).

Implement resilient job queues, caching, and message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis) for large-scale data ingestion.

Data Processing & Storage

Create pipelines for structured/unstructured data cleaning, transformation, and storage (SQL/NoSQL, time-series DBs, or data lakes).

Ensure consistency, high availability, and horizontal scalability.

Security & Compliance

Apply strong security practices (network isolation, credential management, encryption, IaaC with SST).

Ensure compliance with applicable data-use and privacy regulations.

Collaboration & Leadership

Work closely with frontend, ML, and product teams to define requirements and ship new capabilities.

Mentor junior engineers and set coding standards and best practices.

Qualifications

2+ years of backend engineering with deep understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).

Proven experience in reverse engineering, web scraping, browser automation (Playwright, Puppeteer, Selenium), and/or bot evasion techniques.

Proficiency in at least one major backend language (Python, Node.js/TypeScript, Go, or Java).

Strong experience with REST/gRPC APIs, microservice architecture, and CI/CD pipelines.

Expertise in database design (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar) and caching (Redis/Memcached).

Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, proxies, load balancers).
