Founded in 2010 by four passionate animal lovers, Youth Organization in Defence of Animals (YODA) is a registered charity based in Mumbai. YODA is dedicated to making human-animal co-existence better and strives for a city free from animal cruelty. The organization provides prompt medical services to abandoned, injured, or mistreated homeless animals, offers behavioral rehabilitation to mentally disturbed animals, and shelters and rehabilitates homeless or elderly animals until they are fit for adoption or release. YODA also focuses on vaccinating and sterilizing stray dogs and cats to reduce the stray population and prevent zoonotic diseases, alongside fostering education and awareness about animal welfare.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Veterinarian located in Mumbai. The Veterinarian will be responsible for providing medical care to abandoned, injured, or mistreated animals, conducting surgeries, administering vaccinations, and performing sterilizations. They will also be involved in the rehabilitation of mentally disturbed animals, overseeing the shelter facilities, and ensuring the proper health and treatment of animals until they are fit for adoption or release. The Veterinarian will collaborate with the team for educational and awareness campaigns regarding animal welfare.


Qualifications

  • Medical expertise in veterinary care, including diagnosis, treatment, and surgery
  • Experience in shelter management and animal behavior rehabilitation
  • Skills in vaccination, sterilization, and preventive care for animals
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Compassion for animals and commitment to animal welfare
