The position serves as a critical part of the Global Finance Shared services team with responsibilities ranging from financial analysis to reporting though the ecosystem of analytic and visualization tools. How You'll Help Us Connect the World:

Governance

  • Leverage analytics framework of the company to create and improve reporting framework
  • Coordinates monthly reporting activities for Finance Shared Services & maintains associated scorecards
  • Create management reports to identify areas of policy compliance requiring executive attention

Shared Services Operations

  • Works as the business partner to the Finance operations as well as Finance leadership team.
  • Experience with business analysis, projections, and variance analysis.
  • Experience with SAP ERP, Business Object (SAP report writer), Oracle EPBCS, or Hyperion, GL wand and other data consolidation/ reporting tools.
  • Sale incentive calculation support, reporting and managing stakeholders.
  • Work on projects related to financial analysis and process improvement with stakeholders within shared services and Finance globally to deliver value

CPI (Continuous Process improvement) projects.

  • Pushes Productivity, Cost & Cash Focus initiatives down to the shared services & sites
  • Escalate country / site simplification ideas & improvement suggestions back to Finance
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within shared services by leveraging data analytics tools such as SAP BO and Power BI
  • Any other areas as may be identified by management to be included in the role 

Required Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or relevant discipline is required with 4-8 years finance experience in any industry with a preference to manufacturing.

  • Experience in Data analysis and visualization tools such as Alteryx, Oracle EBPCS, FCCS. SAP BI/ BO, GL wand, Power BI etc.
  • Must have excellent communication proficiency and presentation skills.

**Function Description**
The Regulatory Reporting team delivers Bank Holding Company regulatory reports in accordance with Federal Reserve requirements for American Express Company and its subsidiaries. We perform independent processes to prepare, review and analyze financial information with a key focus on control and compliance and addressing new Federal Reserve requirements, including new reports. We work extensively with our own market financial controllers, subject matter experts, General Counsel's Office, technology partners, and external regulators. **Responsibilities-**
This position will be a part of the Financial Reporting Cluster. It will primarily support the External Reporting function and will be part of Regulatory Reporting team. The job would entail the following activities:
* Preparing the regulatory filing and supporting documentation/schedules.
* Contribute on strengthening controls and complaince environment on process and SOX function.
* Ensuring report compliance with Federal Reserve and other regulatory reporting requirements, the Company's internal review procedures and all other applicable policies and procedures.
* Supporting projects to transform the preparation of regulatory reports, including automation and simplification.
* Supporting the Managers and Director in responding to inquiries of (i) Federal Reserve; (ii) GCO; and (iii) other regulatory related inquiries.
* Supporting the Managers and Director in implementation of analytical and reporting processes, procedures and systems using the Company's control framework.
* Coordinating with various Subject Matter Experts, market controllers and Global Reporting leaders.
* Displaying thought leadership and supporting work/life balance initiatives.

**BU & LOB Description**
The Global Treasury Controllership (GTC) team is part of the American Express Global Controllership Organization. GTC plays a significant role in the financial reporting processes for the Company's cash, debt and equity issuances, securities and financing transactions, investments, and derivatives aimed at managing and hedging risk exposure. Additionally, GTC provides financial instrument valuation services and performs middle office trade support functions for Global Treasury.
**Purpose of The Role**
This analyst role is within the Global Treasury Advisory and Valuation team of GTC and is responsible for preparing reports and analyses for use by Senior Management and External/Regulatory Reporting, specifically as it relates to derivatives and hedging. The individual is also responsible for ensuring appropriate and consistent accounting & reporting across the Company's derivative portfolio and will support key dynamic projects across the team.
**Responsibilities include:**
+ Support AXP and its subsidiaries in ongoing accounting and reporting subject-matter expertise for derivative and hedging transactions, as well as fair value measurements
+ Perform analyses of market impacts on the Company's Balance Sheet and derivative portfolios, leveraged by various stakeholders, including Senior Management

Minimum Qualifications
+ 3-5 years' experience in Audit, Accounting, Valuations or Reporting - Big 4 experience or CA/CPA/CFA preferred
+ Basic understanding of US GAAP required - knowledge of ASC 815, 820, or 830 a plus
+ Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a strong control environment

+ Meet the company's regulatory, Security and Exchange Commission, and other external financial reporting requirements
+ Lead planning and execution strategy of large, complex external financial reporting requirements
+ Provide technical interpretation on various matters and is a key change agent in building and adopting best practices within the functional area
+ Lead implementation of the most complex projects and initiatives impacting multiple lines of business across the enterprise
+ Lead stakeholder development by maintaining ongoing interaction that increases their awareness, understanding, accountability, and engagement in the reporting process
+ Lead and direct accounting technical regulatory capital and regulatory reporting guidance
+ Lead technical advisory and reporting delivery in the company's coordination of the regulatory reporting reviews performed by United States Federal Banking and Broker Dealer agencies
+ Obtain and maintain SME knowledge of the Capital, Basel Advanced and Standardized RWA methodology and related impacted regulatory reports including FFIEC 101, Pillar 3, Call Report RC-R, FR Y-9C HC-R and FR Y-14Q Schedule D
+ Support the quarterly earnings estimate process to compile estimates of the Supplementary Leverage Ratio and Supplementary Leverage Exposure.
+ Ensure the compliance with requirements under the Company's Regulatory and Risk Reporting Governance & Oversight Framework including desktop procedures, work papers, and EUCT controls for the assigned regulatory reports; provide guidance and support to the department in completion of all required deliverables
+ Perform and develop new validations, reconciliations, checks, period over period variance analysis and other analytics to ensure adherence of the reports/presentations to the regulatory instructions and guideline
+ Partner with Corporate Accounting Policy, LOB Controllers and the Regulatory Interpretations Team to ensure the consistent adherence to regulatory rules including assessment of scheduled changes
+ Be part of key projects to support the RBR Reporting Team in meeting the changing and heightened expectation of regulatory reporting requirements. This includes supporting deliverables for key strategic Enterprise Finance projects
**Required Qualifications:**
+ 2+ years of Finance, Accounting, Financial Reporting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
**Desired Qualifications:**
+ B. Tech/CA/MBA degree or higher preferred with relevant 4+years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics, and reporting
+ Demonstrate solid analytical skills from a Regulatory Reporting perspective. Specifically, Basel and Capital Reporting.
+ Ability to actively participate in workflow and task execution within a team environment
+ Experience in US Regulatory Reporting highly desired
+ Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
+ Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
+ Knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
+ Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels
+ Solid analytical skills including the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
