Role / Position Overview
Citi Legal Global Legal Solutions team supports the Citi Legal attorneys. On a day-to-day basis, the Global Legal Solutions TPM analyst will work to support the information security controls assessments performed on Citi Legal external law firms who meet Citi's Legal Risk Profile. The Global Legal Solutions TPM analyst will expect to partner closely with the various programs which make up Citi's Chief Information Security Office (CISO) to ensure proper risk management of Citi Legal.

The Trade Compliance Supervisor position for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics plays a critical role in ensuring the company's trade compliance practices are conducted in accordance with the rules and regulatory requirements of Customs authorities and other applicable governmental agencies. This role is critical to ensure our products meet origin qualification requirements for global trade, helping the company access cost-saving programs and comply with complex international regulations.

In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to direct, assist with, and participate in, the following activities in support of our Trade Compliance Program:
+ Supervise and support a team responsible for country of origin determinations, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualifications, Foreign Direct Product (FDP) Rule analysis, and related bill of material reviews.
+ Set daily and weekly priorities for the team to ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
+ Coordinate with cross-functional partners such as sourcing, engineering, and global trade teams to gather needed data and resolve issues.

The essential requirements of the job include:
+ Experience in trade compliance - Minimum 4 years of experience in trade compliance, with focus on origin determination, FTA qualification, or related activities.

The Regional General Counsel, India will be responsible for leading the legal and compliance team in India. The Regional GC will be a member of the Danaher India leadership team, providing thought leadership on strategic growth initiatives. The Regional GC and their legal and compliance team will be responsible to provide advice and deliver legal work product on a wide variety of of legal, regulatory, compliance and business matters in India for all Operating Companies (OpCos)and will be expected to work closely within the global legal and compliance teams for the OpCos, Platforms and Danaher corporate as needed. .
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to design and build a risk informed and right sized legal delivery model, develop talent, assess the needs of the business from a legal, compliance and regulatory perspective and collaborate with the relevant business leaders and other members of the global legal team to properly deploy existing or new resources against those needs. Additionally, the incumbent will, directly or indirectly, develop, implement, and maintain the compliance programs for the company to include implementing written policies, procedures, and standards of conduct, leading effective training programs, conducting internal monitoring and auditing, and directing investigations to respond promptly to detected offenses and undertake corrective actions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gaining a solid understanding of Danaher OpCos and Platforms in India, their goals, and challenges and identifying appropriate legal and compliance strategies to facilitate those goals and minimize those challenges. Act as a strategic business partner for senior leadership on matters of major importance to the company and provide guidance and counsel on all aspects of the company's legal and compliance risk and opportunities. Drive and support the implementation of the Danaher strategy in the India Region, including by advising on legal and business issues associated with different go-to-market strategies. Support and partner with all the Platform and OpCo business leaders based in India, including, but not limited to Commercial Business leaders & Regional functional leaders. Design and manage the strategy, direction and activities of the India legal and compliance function. Work collaboratively with executive leadership, department managers and staff throughout the organization to develop and implement policies and procedures that drive efficient and effective business practices in all forms while ensuring alignment with global and local laws and policies. Negotiate and document commercial transactions, contracts, and other legal arrangements including distribution, dealer and sales agency transactions. Engage proactively and advise colleagues on the prioritization of risks and identify, monitor and improve key processes and internal controls. Be a critical team member in formulating an appropriate intellectual property strategy for India Develop appropriate approaches to dispute resolution, lawsuits, and arbitrations; provide regular, clear communication of litigation issues and opportunities to the affected business and to the General Counsel, HGM, Chief Compliance Officers of 3 platforms and relevant finance team members. Emphasize and demonstrate operational excellence and a balanced risk-taking approach. Work with the compliance team to identify and mitigate compliance risks and develop appropriate countermeasures. Conduct compliance-related investigations and implement action plans to remediate identified issues. Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk in India; develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Assist with mergers & acquisition, consistent with relevant experience - from due diligence to documentation depending on the situation and background. Assist colleagues and internal stakeholders with support in a variety of legal areas, including, labor, employment law, and regulatory law. Work on the smallest and simplest, as well as the most complex, legal matters faced by the company. Partner with appropriate business functions to deliver supplemental compliance training that further amplifies the corporate program, engages employees, and addresses specific needs within Danaher India and South Asia. Assisting Quality and Regulatory Affairs colleagues with regulatory law support. Selecting appropriate outside counsel and effective management of their representation of Danaher.
MAJOR OBJECTIVES AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:
Must be able to explain complex legal points to business leaders with varying degrees of sophistication; able to take business leaders' concerns and demands into account in how best to pursue legal strategies. In-depth knowledge and understanding of compliance risk management practices and methodologies, including risk assessment, monitoring/surveillance, and testing activities. Strong project management skills, including managing and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects, mapping budget and resources, and reporting progress and risks to colleagues and senior management. Strong business and financial acumen, with demonstrated understanding of core business processes. Ability to balance numerous matters and work within a large matrixed organization and effectively prioritize matters; ability to adapt to a fast paced, high-performance and lean environment and a relentless culture of continuous improvement. Able to influence and command the respect of business leaders and outside counsel across a wide spectrum of experience, sophistication and cultural differences. Tough-minded and firm on principles, but able to be flexible in tactics/execution, able to think on feet, ability to engage in difficult discussion dispassionately. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate must hold a J.D., LL.M., or equivalent law degree. Extensive exposure to and success in a dynamic business environment. Minimum 15 years of post-academic experience working in a multi-national company, preferably in the science and technology sector, ( biotechnology, diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceutical or life sciences). The individual should have more than 7 years experience of working in and with stakeholders in a global business services, in a matrixed environment. Law firm experience, preferably international, or equivalent in-house experience, or combination of the two. In-house experience required. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
