Role Description
Muktangan requires passionate teacher educators to sustain and grow its top pedagogical practices. Key Responsibilities
A. Outreach and Advocacy: (50% weightage)
Involves reaching out to potential implementing partners and building their capacity to design classroom based systems that deliver a high quality engagement along with optimized learning outcomes for every student. In this role the lead faculty would be required to
- Do detailed need assessments
- Collaboratively design early years learning curriculums and relevant TLMs
- Facilitate early childhood education training modules in physical or virtual formats
- Conduct preschool classroom observations and provide documented feedback on the M&E metrics
- Collaboration with various Government, Non-government and academic institutions for contextualizing the our ECCE curriculum and processes The role will involve traveling as per the location of the project partner.
B. In-Service Teacher Education: (40% weightage)
Involves continuous capacity building of "community teachers and subject faculty" developed in the Muktangan constructivist methodology. Our network of 7 municipal schools in Central Mumbai serves 4000+ students each year, delivering top percentile results in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Board Examinations.
In this role the Lead Faculty members are mainly expected to
- Design and facilitate weekly pedagogy related discussion forums between practicing teachers
- Conduct professional development sessions during vacations
- Provide structured mentoring to assigned teacher trainees or teachers and documenting the impacts for activities of the department
- Plan, design and facilitate the implementation of the ECCE modules
- Regular reflection and updating preschool processes in alignment with policies like NEP 2020 and NIPUN Bharat
C. Organizational : (10% weightage)
Involves continuously researching emerging trends in the sector and attempting to enhance the network with institutions that are aligned to the Muktangan vision to promote an engaged & inclusive classroom experience. The Lead Faculty will be responsible to
- Design avenues to advocate Muktangan's value proposition in the context of early childhood care and development in a responsible way across different forums like seminars, paper presentations, social media etc.
Required Competencies:
- Passionate about researching & designing early years learning routines that can engage teachers & children
- Outstanding communications and inter-personal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
- Proven ability to develop preschool content (including use of technology) that is relevant to the learner
- Working knowledge of Marathi/Hindi or both will be given preference
- Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external teams as well as lead projects
- Must be patient, resourceful, resilient and flexible working with a professional, demanding work schedule and environment
- Must be willing to travel both within and outside Mumbai
Educational Qualifications
- Masters in Early Childhood Education
- Post-graduation in Human Development
- B.ED Minimum 2 years' experience as an early childhood practitioner
