Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.

Essential Requirements

This role will see you working in a remote Aboriginal community. All applicants must have an understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control, self-determination, and the issues faced by Yolŋu people living in remote settings. To apply, please ensure you have a current Registration and Practicing Certificate as Registered Nurse through AHPRA; a current Remote Emergency Care Course certificate and/or Advanced Life Support certificate; a current accredited immunisation certificate (recognised in the NT); a Remote Pharmacotherapeutic Certificate (or equivalent); manual driver’s license; and 3 – 5 years post-graduate experience with advanced clinical skills and competencies applicable to remote settings (including the ability to triage, work independently, and participate in afterhours emergency calls and First Response).

Are you a dedicated Psychologist with experience in Child Development and Early Intervention Parenting Support ? We have an exciting six-month contract opportunity with the a Hospital and Health Service, based at Roma Hospital , with the possibility of extension.

About the Role:

We are accepting applications from HP3 and HP4 level clinicians to deliver high-level psychology services across multiple sites. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in optimizing psycho-social outcomes for children, families, and carers.

  • Location: Roma Hospital, QLD
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract: 6 months (potential for extension)
  • Travel Support: $200 each way
  • Accommodation Provided
  • Monday to Friday roster

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team across the Roma facility and outreach sites.
  • Delivering comprehensive psychological assessments, treatment, and case management for children and young people.
  • Offering early intervention parenting support, particularly for children aged 0-8 years, including conducting detailed family assessments and interventions for clients with complex needs.
  • Coordinate care plans for at-risk clients, following Child Health service delivery models to support complex cases effectively.
  • Provide supervision, training, and professional development to staff, as well as oversee student placements as per agreements with the Service Director.
  • This position will be required to travel and work across South West Hospital and Health Services facilities.

centers, equip ECD centers with ECCE materials, liaise with authorities, develop a model 
ECD center, design programs based on data, implement parenting curriculum, and provide

development. 
Roles and Responsibilities: 
Connect with the ICDS centres in the targeted village areas and strengthened them 
through programming and intra support. 
Equipped the ECD centres with ECCE materials promoting early childhood 
education. 
Liaison and lobby with the ICDS and district collectorate, government authority in 
meeting the contextual needs of every ICDS centres that caters to our communities. 
Develop a model ECD centre which could be replaceable model that we would 
promote to ICDS. 
Collect and interpret data from ICDS / ECD centres and design an appropriate 
programme as per the need. Monthly reporting on individual ECD report. 
Provide training through agencies specialised in ECD to the ICDS workers in 
collaboration with local government.
