Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Generate concepts and mechanical designs for Orthopedic implants and surgical instrumentation.
- Create complex 3D models and manufacturing drawings per best engineering design practices.
- Perform engineering analyses - including tolerance stacks, FEA structural analysis and FMEA.
- Assist in the development of verification and validation protocols, tests and reports.
- Ensures the device meets technical requirements (function, performance, safety)
- Creates presentations and drawings to communicate and document solutions, design rationale, and recommendations.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or master's in mechanical engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in product design, product development or R&D environment (medical device industry a plus)
- Strong working knowledge of engineering principles
- Proficient at Solid Works with advanced modeling skills and ability to work with complex models, and assemblies. Strongly prefer CSWE or CSWP certification.
- Strong experience using and interpreting GD&T, drafting standards per ASME 14.5 Y
- Strong analytical reasoning with an ability to influence key decisions based on technical judgment.
- Demonstrated utilization of Design for Manufacture/Assembly and Design for Test methodologies
- Ideally, able to conduct FEA of structural performance.
- Excellent communicator with documentation writing skills; clear and concise using objective evidence and language.
