The Asia Group is now accepting applications for an Associate, Life Sciences to join our South Asia practice in New Delhi. This position will support the Senior Vice President and the broader South Asia practice based across New Delhi, Mumbai, and Washington D.C. The Associate role is offered as a full-time position.

Associates play key roles in supporting the firm’s research, analysis, and client engagement. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in public policy and regulations in life sciences (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and/or other areas of healthcare). In addition, a successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to distill developments and trends into actionable insights and strategic recommendations for clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Support the South Asia team in servicing life sciences clients through execution of high-value-added deliverables
  • Proactively track policy, market, and industry developments impacting client equities. Conduct thorough industry and policy research and analysis as well as business due diligence
  • Lead the drafting of high-quality executive memos, reports, briefing materials, and other written products for external (client) and internal (TAG) audiences, often within short deadlines
  • Actively participate in regular client engagements, including briefing sessions and workshops, alongside senior team members
  • Support senior team members in facilitating the end-to-end management of visits by global client executives
  • Provide logistical and event support for client engagements
  • May perform other tasks or special projects as needed according to business needs.


Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent academic/practical experience related to economic, industry, and policy issues in India/South Asia 
  • 3-5 years of prior work experience, preferably including in a client-servicing industry or government
  • Strong and nuanced grasp of life sciences policy making and regulations in India
  • Outstanding research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail, including under tight deadlines; excellent project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience in data visualization and design a plus
  • Genuine desire to learn, including through feedback from senior team members and peers
  • Team player with eagerness for professional development

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a client facing role. Key responsibilities include –

  • CLIENT ENGAGEMENT: will ensure client satisfaction by maintaining high-quality, proactive communication, understanding and meeting project requirements, and by managing client expectations across projects/engagements,
  • DELIVERY OWNERSHIP: will own and contribute hands-on to project design, planning, and delivery of advisory/research/analytics projects; review the work done by team members; ensure the highest quality standards by actively contributing insightful analysis and presentation of data; help team members acquire new skills and support them in delivering increasingly superior quality work
  • PROJECT OWNERSHIP: will own delivery of consulting and research projects, meet timelines, and manage project risks; will represent project teams in review meetings with clients,
  • REVIEW AND QC: will review work done by analysts and junior consultants; will ensure high quality deliverables by actively contributing through insightful analysis of data,
  • TEAM MENTORSHIP: will be required to drive team members in acquiring new skills and support them in delivering increasingly superior quality work,
  • COLLABORATION: assist the team/ supervisor with specific expertise when required. On a need basis, support BD/sales team with subject matter expertise and help build proposals, etc.
  • As part of job responsibilities, you are required to comply with ISO 20252:2019 and ISO 27001 standards.

Qualifications

  • B. Pharm or MSc (Pharma) or Master’s degree or in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or related field.
  • 7–10 years of experience in competitive intelligence, market insights, or strategic analysis within pharma/biotech.
  • Proven leadership or team management experience.
  • In-depth understanding of drug development processes, regulatory pathways, and industry dynamics.
  • Proficient in CI platforms and databases, with strong analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills—both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and drive insights from incomplete or evolving data.

Good To Have:

  • Cross-cultural experience of working with teams and clients based in the US/EU
  • Understanding of the US and European market access and pricing environment for prescription drugs.

Knowledge, Skill, Ability:

  • Extensive experience in at least one therapy area (Cardiovascular, Immunology, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Oncology, Derma, Gastro, Biosimilars space, any other); should be able to interpret market events and advise clients on business implications of such events on a continued basis,
  • Business acumen: needs to be able to drive revenue growth and profitability by identifying/capturing commercial opportunities, by establishing and articulating value stories in solving client problems,
  • Strong research/consulting skills: proven ability to structure research questions, plan and execute research—both qualitative and quantitative—and drive strategic insights through in-depth analysis,
  • Client facing experience is a must. Needs to engage clients by developing and delivering compelling engagement structures, reports/ presentations and by leading project/ industry-related conversations,
  • In addition to secondary research skills, hands-on experience in Quantitative Modeling (forecasting, market sizing, other analytics) and Primary Market Research would be highly valuable for this role,
  • High level of proficiency in MS-Office applications – PowerPoint and Excel in particular,
  • Familiarity with databases (clinicaltrials.gov, pubmed, IQVIA data, other subscription databases),
  • Needs to be a self-starter. Must own and deliver projects or parts thereof with near-zero supervision; ability to plan and prioritize multiple workstreams to meet timelines is crucial,

    As an Industry Analyst, you are a subject matter expert with specialization in the Digital Health industry sector. At its core, the Industry Analyst role is about mastering your sector, identifying growth opportunities, and influencing business decisions through sharp, data-driven insights.


    Responsibilities

    • Research & Analysis - Conducts primary and secondary research, market segmentations, forecasts, and detailed market analysis. The IA is able to identify and analyse growth opportunities within the Digital Health industry.
    • Content Creation - Takes personal responsibility for his/her own GOA deliverables from end-to-end. Provides content to feed into the Practice Area's GOA offering and Best Practices Award program. The main focus is on the identification and analysis of market growth opportunities. Will contribute to the focus and content of GOA subscriptions as a market expert and support Program Area Managers in strategic planning.
    • GOA Deliverables (GO-IN) -Takes full responsibility for completion of GOA deliverables. The IA will be focused on creating insightful and impactful content in his/her area of industry or market expertise.
    • Best Practice Awards - Responsible for producing regular BP Award deliverables based on GOA deliverables. Awards may be self-written or created collaboratively through nominations shared with the BPR Team.
    • Frost Radars - Responsible for producing Frost Radar deliverables in his/her market or industry of expertise. Is able to present the value of the Frost Radar as a tool for benchmarking companies' future growth potential.

    Required Competencies

    The Successful candidate will have an educational background in business, market research, economics, journalism, or technology with an enthusiastic curiosity about the critical role Digital Health plays in enabling business around the world. A proactive, methodical, and innovative – thinking outside the box – working practice is essential, with the ability to deliver accurate, high impact results in a fast-paced team-focused environment.


    • A relevant university degree (BA, BE, BS) in engineering, science, business administration, sociology, journalism, marketing, market intelligence, market research or technology.
    • Minimum 5 years of analyst/consulting working experience within healthcare or digital health market research and/or advisory services business environment
    • The ability to research and write a coherent story in proper English about a topic is critical.
    • A foundational understanding of consulting/research/investigative journalism methodologies and business modelling (primary/secondary research, coherent story development).
