Role Synopsis:

The Senior Process Engineer will join the Projects India organisation in the engineering and quality team to provide engineering expertise, oversight, judgment and support to Projects.

The role is based at the Pune office but will require significant contractor facing work at major engineering contractor office locations in both India and possibly ex-India.

What you will deliver:

  • Lead the development of the process scope of project options to ensure selection and progression of safe, driven and robust projects
  • Lead preparation of core project work and give to development of design documents including Statements of Requirements (SOR) and Basis of Design (BOD), as well as engineering design philosophies and strategies
  • Responsible to identify and lead technical studies and baseline assessments of brownfield scope including developing scopes of work and terms of reference; own key process design decisions and trade-offs
  • Responsible to acquire, verify and consolidate technical inputs and assumptions from site and other collaborators;  incorporate turnaround and operations requirements
  • Owns design philosophies and provide oversight and support to the appointed engineering contractors in delivery of their scope during the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Engineering ensuring that process design aspects meet bp requirements, and the design intent and ISD principles are preserved
  • Interpret and clarify technical practices and relevant codes and standards and provide review and assurance of process engineering and design work
  • Ensure that process engineering and technical inputs to key project work such as schedules, cost estimates, case/economics, HSSE studies etc are provided adequately and timely.
  • Accountable for the delivery of key design, safety and project evaluations and workshops such as design/PFD/P&ID reviews, plot plan, HAZOP, LOPA and environmental reviews and reporting
  • Accountable for addressing process design issues with considerations of cost, schedule, and quality; resolve risks to project delivery and ensure adequate risk mitigation plans are in place
  • Provide oversight on performance of engineering contractors and assist Engineer Manager in contract performance management for process engineering scope
  • Provide guidance to contractor process design engineers and process technology providers, including technology selection, planning and readiness assessments
  • Enable timely and effective engagement of other disciplines and Domain Experts (SMEs) and provide technical direction to project teams
  • Functionally lead other process engineers and flow assurance deployed to the project
  • Owns interface with process technology licensors and provide ownership of process design package
  • Support the engineering leadership in compliance with the relevant project specifications, engineering technical practices including review and endorsement of deviations in process engineering
  • Interface with and support environmental and social requirements with HSSE team.
  • Support process design engineering capability and competence through the active mentoring, coaching and training of other process engineers

What you will need to be successful  

  Must have educational qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or the equivalent

  Preferred education/certifications:

  • Chartered Engineer or Registered Professional Engineer

  Minimum years of relevant experience:

  • Minimum 18+ years in oil and gas/petrochemical/ refining/ chemical or equivalent, with minimum 8 years experience of process engineering work in capital projects

Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with):

  • Experience as a lead process engineer in projects in FEED and Detailed Design of major projects; or experience as a lead process engineer in design or operational roles in oil & gas, refining or chemical plants or equivalent
  • Experience working in a discipline leadership role, managing engineering contractor performance
  • Experience of major projects with strong design engineering background and sound knowledge of project processes
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and codes and standards
  • Experience of operator practices application and importance of such
  • Track record of consistent delivery under pressure and able to demonstrate effective project technical management and leadership skills.

Key Accountabilities

This role is for a technical individual with proven expertise in advanced process control to work with our globally located subject matter experts.

  • Advice and assistance to bp sites and projects in all aspects of modern control system design and operation; APC and complex regulatory process controls, operator interfaces, alarm management and remote performance monitoring.
  • Remote and site-based support to bp refineries and production facilities using APC.

The Process Safety Engineer provides support to Site Projects to help ensure compliance with applicable regulations and help manage and reduce process safety risk. The Process Safety Engineer will be actively involved with regulatory required process hazard analysis and management of change activities to help ensure risks are identified and managed.

Provision of deep process safety engineering expertise and judgment in service of the assets, working closely with Site Projects Engineering Managers to ensure efficient handover of all issues that require engineering input to resolve.   • Provides process safety expertise to delivery of regional projects and leads on resolution of complex, multi-discipline technical issues where the dominant component is process or process safety related

about the position:
The Process Monitoring and Optimization Engineer will be a member of the Process Engineering team in the Chevron ENGINE Center. Engineers will work closely with Operations & Maintenance to deliver work priorities, including proactive plant monitoring, optimization, engineering analysis and deliverables. + Review and improve designs for operability, reliability, and ease of maintenance

- Conversant with drafting standards, preparation of detailed design drawing with tolerances
- Conversant with GPS / GD&T systems.
- Conversant with use of MoldFlow/Moldex 3D
- Conversant on tool material, material specifications, Heat treatment & its process.
- Conversant on Tool building, Tool assembly, measurement, testing and tool room processes
- Knowledge of Molding/Stamping materials & its specification
- System know-how & ISO/TS requirements, Process guidelines (IATF 16949, and needed ISO)
- Interaction with CFT/suppliers for reviews, trials, evaluation of component / tooling elements
- Know-how Scientific Injection molding techniques.
- Validate concept designs using simulation results and determine design robustness, critical to function requirements.
- Involve in Kaizen events to save costs & time. Deploy standardized process and work methodology. Benchmarks implement productivity improvement methods.
- Track monitor metrics for sustained performance covering quality & delivery.
- CT results interpretation, getting correction at suppliers.
- Tool Transfer activity till tool is proven at plant
- Knowledge on Overmold / 2 shot molding/ silicon mold is added advantage.
- Interacting with overseas supplier and to get part approved with lesser condition loops.
- Knowledge on Stamping / assembly / automation will be added advantage.
**What your background should look like:**
- PG/MTech/Post Diploma in Tool Design from NTTF or GTTC/ BE Mechanical with Tooling Background.
- Knowledge on product, design processes and methodology.
- Understanding of LEAN / 6 Sigma / Kaizen techniques.
- Master molding Certification as added advantage.
- **9 - 12 years** of industry experience.
- Experience in Connector /Precession Tools manufacturing Industry.
- System and Product knowledge: Thorough understanding of Tooling & Product requirements.
- Market intelligence: A thorough understanding of Process and technologies.
- Conceptual thinking: Being able to see a broad picture, understand problems by putting the pieces together and simplify complex issues.
- Concern for order, quality, and accuracy: An underlying drive to reduce uncertainty by continuous risk assessments, taking accurate decisions, and continuously improve processes.
- Communication skills: Fluent communication skills to be able to articulate well with teams across different functions & locations.
- Internal stakeholder management: Manage Tools & requirements and work effectively with different cross functional teams.
