  • As an Engineer II SW, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining modules for embedded systems, with a particular emphasis on leveraging C++ for these projects. This will involve designing production-ready software by following a defined software development process.

  • You will analyze specifications, develop high-level design, maintain traceability, review unit-level code, and document the work on Harman products).

  • You will provide technical coordination in software development by understanding requirements for specific projects/programs and will be guiding a team of engineers on skill-building aspects that are related to the project.

  • Develop and implement modules for embedded systems, including software and drivers, using C++ as the primary language.Analyze existing embedded software to add features, make modifications, fix bugs, and/or port to different platforms.

  • C++, C Development, write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, primarily but not restricted to C++, for embedded applications, adhering to coding standards and best practices.

  • Collaborate with other engineers to develop and integrate embedded systems that interface with Windows-based platforms, which in many cases, have Android Emulators installed.

  • Use IPC mechanisms in AIDL, FIDL, POSIX, etc. to realize functionalities and features.

  • Conduct thorough testing of embedded systems, including unit testing, integration testing, and system testing.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for embedded systems, including code documentation, design documentation, and user manuals.

  • Analyze and optimize code for performance and resource constraints within embedded systems.

  • Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues related to embedded systems development.

  • Work effectively with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. 

  • Participate in design, development, verification, troubleshooting, and delivery of high-quality products.

  • What You Need to be Successful

  • 5-8 years of extensive experience in C++ and C programming, including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and memory management. 

  • Strong understanding of embedded systems principles, including hardware-software interaction, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and communication protocols. 

  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems, including development tools, debugging techniques, and integration with Windows-based applications. 

  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience with IPC mechanisms like AIDL (Android Interface Definition Language), FIDL (Franca IDL), POSIX Message Queues, Shared Memory, or custom messaging frameworks.

  • Experience with debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems, including JTAG debugging and logic analyzers. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

  • Bonus Points if You Have

  • RTOS Experience: Experience with specific RTOS, such as FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or eCos. 

  • Hardware Knowledge: Knowledge of hardware components, including microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces.

    The Telematics Solution position will report into the HARMAN Engineering organization and will be responsible for researching and delivering software’s, POCs for automotive embedded devices, which are both consumer and automotive grade products.

    Telematics is the key foundational technology for the connected car and autonomous driving. It includes technology like LTE modems and network access devices NADs) as well as wireless standards e.g. BT/WiFi, GNSS, NFC etc. are one of the fastest growing areas. HARMAN works with leading suppliers to design telematics solutions to ensure every in-car experience is entertaining, productive, safe, and secure.

    As part of an agile team, you will research and build the software on telematics devices with state-of-the-art technologies and features like communication, networking, and positioning. You will be on a path finding mission to enable and create new business in the Telematics domain. Will be part of highly visible demos, and lead effort to bring the product and solutions to market. Your responsibilities include design verification, testing, debugging, and RCA of defects.

    What You Will Do

  • Play the technical lead role in defining software architecture, design and development of projects in the V2X and MEC domain for embedded platforms.
  • Take complete technical ownership of ensuring that there are no gaps in designing scalable and reusable software components; have hands-on experience in solving all critical technical issues.
  • Design and develop scalable, maintainable, well automotive-grade Linux applications for V2X devices in compliance with industry standards on embedded platforms.
  • Understand business requirements, associate them with agile entities (epics/stories/tasks) for planning and execution.
  • Although primarily a technical role, you should have the right interpersonal skills to be approachable, define, drive and negotiate and reach timely consensus on issues within the team as well as with customers.
  • Be able to independently drive requirements discussions with customers,

  • Masters/bachelor's degree in electrical, communications, computer engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Should have 12 to 15 years of overall experience in software development in embedded development practices using C++ and C.
  • Solid foundation in OOPS concepts and prior experience in System and Software architecture design.
  • Experience in technical leadership of software Design team.
  • Should have strong programming skills in C++
  • Working experience in Linux Systems Programming.
  • Good understanding of Linux Inter Process Communication mechanisms (sockets, IPC, Synchronization)
  • Concepts and techniques for Multithreaded applications
  • State Machine Implementation.
  • Good understanding of C-V2X/DSRC, CAN and GNSS Positioning
  • Basics of V2X Security (Signing and Verification)
