The Quality Control professional in the Foundry ensures that all castings meet quality standards, customer specifications, and company benchmarks. This role involves monitoring, evaluating, and improving the foundry’s processes to enhance product reliability and efficiency.
**Key Responsibilities**
Conduct inspections on raw materials, in-process items, and finished castings.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and internal protocols.
Implement quality plans, procedures, and checklists for consistent product quality.
Perform mechanical, metallurgical, and non-destructive tests (NDT) like X-ray, ultrasonic, or dye penetrant tests.
Analyze test data and recommend corrective actions for defects or variances.
Identify, document, and analyze casting defects like shrinkage, porosity, or surface cracks.
Collaborate with production teams to implement root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
Work closely with production to refine mold-making, melting, and pouring processes.
Suggest process improvements to enhance product quality and reduce waste.
Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
Generate reports on quality trends and submit them to management.
Ensure compliance with ISO, ASTM, or other relevant quality standards.
Support internal and external audits related to quality.
Train production staff on quality control techniques and protocols.
Coordinate with customers regarding quality-related queries and feedback.
Qualifications
Education: ICWA
Experience: 3-7 years in a quality control role in a foundry or manufacturing setup.
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of metallurgy, casting processes, and defect analysis.
Proficiency in non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
Familiarity with quality standards like ISO 9001, ASTM, or equivalent.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Proficient in using quality tools like 8D, 5 Why, and SPC.
