We are seeking a forward-thinking Senior Digital Design Consultant to join our growing team, with a strong technical focus on IoT, platform and system architecture, and the design and integration of smart technologies in the built environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in leading the technical design and delivery of smart building projects, with a deep understanding of building systems, software platforms, and how technology can be used to optimise performance, enhance user experience, and drive digital transformation.
As a Senior Consultant in our digital team, you will be responsible for leading project teams, managing the technical design and integration of digital and smart systems, and collaborating across disciplines to deliver high-quality, innovative outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design and delivery of smart building solutions, including system architecture, integration strategies, and digital infrastructure requirements.
- Define and design the Internet of Things (IoT) architecture across a wide range of building technologies including sensors, networks, microcontrollers, and edge/cloud processing platforms.
- Develop smart building system designs that integrate technologies such as lighting, BMS, security, access control, AV, and occupancy sensors into a seamless digital ecosystem.
- Produce and review technical documentation including design briefs, architecture diagrams, functional specifications, and interface schedules.
- Provide technical leadership in platform design, system configuration, data strategy, and API integration.
- Work closely with clients and internal stakeholders to understand their vision, define system requirements, and propose innovative digital solutions.
- Provide strategic guidance on vendor selection, procurement support, and specification development.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of key building systems, including Building Management Systems (BMS), and how they interoperate with other digital systems.
- Stay ahead of emerging technology trends, standards, and best practices to ensure WSP’s digital designs remain cutting edge and future-ready.
- Support and coordinate with Master System Integrators (MSIs) where applicable, and contribute to defining integration strategies.
- Coordinate across disciplines and collaborate with WSP’s engineering, architecture, and technology teams to ensure successful integration and innovation across projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Digital Design, or related field; Master’s degree / MBA is a plus
- 6+ years’ experience in technology design and/or consulting, with experience in Smart Buildings and IoT system design.
- Solid understanding of IoT devices, platform architecture, building control systems, communication protocols (BACnet, KNX, MQTT, etc.), and systems integration principles.
- Experience working with or managing Master Systems Integrators (MSIs) and overseeing the integration of multiple building technologies is a significant plus.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and Adobe products, with a keen eye for design.
- Strong project management and technical delivery skills, with a drive for excellence.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across geographies and cultures.
