Key Responsibilities
Inpatient Services
- Review prescriptions to ensure accuracy, suitability, and absence of drug interactions.
- Prepare and dispense medications, IV admixtures, and chemotherapy as required.
- Collaborate with physicians to monitor and adjust patient medication regimens.
- Participate in ward rounds to provide clinical and pharmacological insights.
- Ensure timely supply of medicines to wards, ICUs, and other departments.
- Maintain and update comprehensive patient medication records.
- Contribute to clinical initiatives such as antimicrobial stewardship and pain management programs.
Outpatient Services
- Dispense both prescribed and OTC medicines to patients.
- Counsel patients on correct usage, dosage, side effects, and storage of drugs.
- Promote awareness about preventive health, vaccination, and lifestyle management.
- Address patient queries and resolve drug-related concerns effectively.
General Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to hospital policies, NABH/JCI standards, and statutory guidelines.
- Maintain sufficient stock of essential, emergency, and life-saving drugs.
- Monitor and minimize expiries, wastage, and pilferage of medicines.
- Guide, mentor, and supervise junior pharmacists, interns, and pharmacy assistants.
- Participate in pharmacovigilance activities and report adverse drug reactions (ADRs).
