What Sets You Apart (Background Requirements):

  • 4+ years of relevant experience.

The Senior Mechanical and Pipeline Engineer – Site Projects will join the Site Projects organization within the bpTSI discipline engineering team to provide deep static mechanical engineering expertise, judgment and support to bp’s global portfolio of exciting projects. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer deployed to our Site Projects team, this role will drive project, technical and engineering delivery through our Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner’s by guiding, advising, reviewing and providing static mechanical and piping expertise and oversight to various project stakeholders. What you will deliver

  • Provide mechanical and pipeline engineering expertise to P&O bp Solutions Site Projects teams

  • Support the Site Projects Team to deliver mechanical and pipeline engineering scopes in front-end loading stages (FEL) and Detailed Engineering of projects, including:

  • provide technical review, guidance and approval of design engineering and construction contractor deliverables

  • equipment specification and selection as well as engineering package technical content

  • Review of technical bid analysis of equipment

  • provide pipeline modelling, including hydraulics and pipe stress

  • provide technical evaluations of requests for exceptions/deviations to specifications or standards

  • provide support during construction to ensure site technical queries, non-conformances, concession requests are properly resolved

  • provide development, oversight, assurance and planning of the system integrity management system

  • determine risks to project delivery and ensure adequate risk mitigation plans are in place

  • work with engineering contractor(s) to verify they are performing required activities in line with project schedules and assist bp’s Engineering Manager in contract performance management

  • Ensure that engineering contractor(s) apply bp’s Engineering Practices in engineering designs

  • provide mechanical and pipeline expertise to project MoCs

What you will need to be successful

  Must have educational qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or demonstrated equivalent)

  Preferred education/certifications:

  • Chartered Engineer or registered professional engineer

  Minimum years of relevant experience:

  • 12 years in oil and gas/petrochemical/ refining/ chemical or equivalent, with minimum five (5) years’ experience of Engineering work in Capital projects. Strong preference will be given to experience in brownfield projects.

Role Synopsis: The Rotating Equipment Engineer will join the Production and Operations (P&O) Projects India organisation in the engineering and quality team to provide deep rotating equipment engineering expertise, oversight, judgment and support to Projects. The role is based at the Pune office but will require contractor facing work at major engineering contractor office locations in both India and possibly ex-India.

What you will deliver
  • Provide rotating equipment engineering knowledge for design and delivery of safe, cost effective, quality and competitive projects.
  • Support the Projects rotating equipment engineering team and Engineering Contractor(s) to deliver rotating equipment scopes, including:
  • provide technical oversight, review and approval of rotating equipment design contractor deliverables.
  • Provide requirements for rotating equipment specification in requisitions/datasheets and selection as well as engineering package technical content.
  • Review technical bid analysis for rotating equipment and systems.
  • Provide technical evaluation of requests for exceptions/deviations to specifications or standards.
  • Provide technical input and oversight to equipment suppliers performance and delivery,
  • Determine risks to project delivery and ensure adequate risk mitigation plans are in place o Work with engineering contractor(s) to verify they are performing required activities in line with project schedules, and assist bp’s Engineering Manager in contract performance management o Verify that Engineering Contractor(s) apply bp’s Engineering Practices and industry standards in engineering designs o Check quality and consistency in rotating equipment delivery on projects o Review of Vendor Inspection and Test Plans, documents and drawings o Assist in preparation of factory acceptance test (FAT) and site acceptance test (SAT) plans o Record and share relevant takeaways
  • Support resolution of complex rotating equipment technical challenges.
  • Support other engineers in the rotating equipment field engineering team to deliver engineering scope
  • Coach earlier career engineers to aid in their technical and professional development.
  • Interface with other disciplines, construction, commissioning and operations teams for rotating equipment design.
What you will need to be successful Must have educational qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering
Preferred education/certifications:
  • Chartered Engineer or Registered Professional Engineer
Minimum years of relevant experience:
  • Min 7 + years in oil and gas/petrochemical/ refining/ chemical or equivalent, with minimum three (3) years experience of Engineering work in Capital projects.
Must have experiences/skills :
  • Experience of specifying, designing and delivering rotating equipment in Projects.
  • Good technical knowledge of rotating equipment design including pumps, compressors and power generation.
  • Experience with a variety of machinery types including centrifugal, axial, PD
  • Practical working knowledge of governing codes, industry standards (API, ISO, IOGP), local regulations relevant to rotating equipment.
  • Good discipline knowledge with good track record of multi discipline integration.
  • Experience of EPC environment on major Projects.
  • Pragmatic decision maker, willing to challenge and ensure engineering value is delivered.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the project team, Contractors and projects leadership.
Good to have experiences/skills :
  • Project experience of auxiliary systems such as seals, condition monitoring and lube oil.
  • Experience of working as part of a remote team with collaborative approach to delivery

Intent   

The Corrosion Engineer will be providing corrosion and erosion modelling support across all of bp’s operations and projects. Systematically applying and continuously improving bp’s modelling capability.

Proactively interact with other disciplines, sub-functions, and contractors to systematically resolve Corrosion related problems

Responsibilities   

  • Provide corrosion modelling support to both operations and projects
  • Providing erosion modelling support to both operations and projects
  • Working with advisors and SME’s to interpret and apply the modelling output
  • Build a centre of perfection for corrosion and erosion modelling
  • Identify improvements and enhancements to the modelling toolset to provide value
  • Integrate modeling with real time data to provide improved risk management
  • Provide corrosion and materials engineering expertise to other squads across bp.
  • Ensure pragmatic solutions are implemented to manage risk, production efficiency, defect elimination and standardization, to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
  • Support corrosion threat assessments for regions and projects and development of Corrosion and Materials mitigation programs across IM and other teams.
  • Work with digital or I&E engineering teams to develop corrosion & materials related technology programs, develop use cases for operations and projects and support deployment within operating regions.
  • Support the development of central tools and processes, preparation of central guidance documents or procedures as required.
  • Provide corrosion and materials engineering support to incident investigations, projects, etc.

People and business related :

  • Provide visible safety leadership in accordance with bp safety leadership principles, lifesaving rules and process safety fundamentals to model desired safety behaviours
  • Record relevant learning in shared learning systems, incorporate into local activities, specifications/ practices/ procedures and raise high priority lessons
  • Support performance management through implementation, measurement, and analysis of relevant KPI’s to drive continuous improvement. 

Education 

  • Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or a  related discipline.
  • Post graduate certification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering PhD preferred.

Experience and job   requirements

About the Role:

As a GSS geologist, you will have the opportunity to support activity across our global portfolio, on projects as diverse as resources progression in AGT, Egypt, and Asia Pacific regions, early field development offshore West Africa and modelling large-scale waterflood developments in the Caspian Sea and Middle East. You may work on clastic, deep-water, paralic, non-marine and carbonate reservoirs, supporting our hydrocarbon and low carbon businesses, and delivering new wells.

You will be deployed into one of our Reservoir Performance, Reserves. You will deep technical skills in geology and subsurface integration, alongside detailed appreciation of subsurface uncertainty and risk, to deliver: integrated subsurface descriptions, reservoir performance models, reserves estimates and well plans which all underpin resource progression and development planning bp’s global oil, gas and low carbon portfolio.

What will you deliver:

  • As an individual technical contributor, working closely with other subsurface subject areas and other business units such as the the Project or Production organisation, you will deliver high-quality geological inputs to progress prioritised business opportunities.
  • You will interpret and integrate core, well-log, seismic, analogue, and dynamic data (pressure, production etc.) to develop and refine the coordinated structural, stratigraphic, depositional, rock property and fluid frameworks · which underpin coordinated subsurface products.
  • Your technical and business skills will enable you to develop appropriate subsurface scenarios, to characterise and communicate subsurface uncertainties and use this knowledge to plan and deliver ‘fit for purpose’ technical products.
  • You will support the base management and reservoir management opportunities to improve economic recovery from existing infrastructure.
  • Your ability to clearly communicate subsurface uncertainty to colleagues and business leaders will enable the development of appropriate risk management and mitigation plans.
  • As a geologist in bp’s geological and subsurface communities you will coach, share standard methodology and seek to innovate to tackle technical and business problems.

Must have educational qualifications:

  • A geology / geoscience degree from a recognised university.

Minimum years of relevant experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience as a geologist in oil, gas or CCS exploration appraisal, development or production.

Must have experiences/skills:

  • Excellent geoscience and subsurface interpretation skills, including interpretation workstation skills and seismic interpretation.

You will work in Pune, India, but may be remotely deployed into a coordinated subsurface delivery ‘squad’ where day-to-day activities/deliverables will be prioritised by the squad leader. These GSS squads typically consist of 5-10 multi-disciplinary technical members in several locations and are deployed based on global subsurface business prioritisation

You will also work in close collaboration with subsurface in the country your squad supports, as well as with bp’s global subsurface technical specialists and domain authorities.
