Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Plant Quality Manager to lead and manage the quality function at our automotive manufacturing plant in Belagavi . This role is responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in products, processes, and systems in accordance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, etc.). The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of automotive quality tools, and a hands-on approach to driving quality improvements.
Key Responsibilities :
· Lead the plant quality function, including incoming quality, in-process quality, final inspection, and customer quality.
· Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and other customer-specific requirements.
· Manage customer audits, third-party audits, and internal quality system audits.
· Drive implementation of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC and other core quality tools across the plant.
· Address and resolve customer complaints, including root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
· Ensure proper documentation and control of quality processes and records.
· Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to implement quality standards and continuous improvements.
· Monitor and improve key quality KPIs such as rejection rate, customer PPM, cost of poor quality (COPQ), etc.
· Develop and mentor the plant quality team to build a strong quality culture.
· Lead initiatives in supplier quality management and ensure incoming material quality.
· Use structured problem-solving tools like 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa) for issue resolution.
· Maintain and improve quality lab/test equipment and calibration systems.
Key Requirements :
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Automotive Engineering.
· Minimum 8–15 years of relevant experience in quality assurance in an automotive manufacturing company.
· Strong knowledge of automotive quality systems, core tools, and customer quality expectations.
· Hands-on experience in handling customer audits (OEMs and Tier-1s) and certification audits.
· Excellent communication and leadership skills to lead cross-functional teams.
· Proficiency in using tools like SAP/QMS systems, MS Office.
Preferred Industry Background :
· Automotive component manufacturing
· Tier-1 or Tier-2 suppliers to OEMs
· Exposure to working with global OEMs
