    JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The position of Client Onboarding Associate in Shareholder Services is ideal for someone who is interested in learning all the requirements for new clients to invest in various Goldman Sachs Asset Management products (. mutual funds, alternative investments, separately managed accounts) and streamlining the process with a client service mindset. To successfully onboard client relationships, this role involves communication and coordination across many internal teams, such as Tax, Legal, Compliance, Sales and Service. This position requires adhering to laws and regulations, a thorough understanding of a client service/onboarding environment, and an in-depth knowledge of the industry, our client base, and our systems.

  • Facilitate a smooth client onboarding experience by efficiently processing AML/KYC cases and collaborating with Client Onboarding and Financial Crime Compliance teams to conduct due diligence reviews on a wide range of client legal entity types 
  • Responsible for managing the day-to day relationship with the vendors including performing appropriate due diligence, ensuring a contract is in place and applying the correct level of oversight
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills with meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex items to a wide array of internal counterparties 
  • Utilize internal and external sources and partner with other stakeholders (as necessary) to research and investigate cases

     The Client Coverage Group (CCG) within Asset Management is dedicated to retaining, expanding and supporting existing client relationships by ensuring exceptional client service, operational support, and risk management. This involves partnering closely with the sales team, keeping them abreast of recent interactions with clients, and collaborating with business and operations teams to address client queries. The India CCG team will support the global CCG team in delivering these outcomes.

     HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Contribute to a broad platform that serves as the client’s main point of contact for a diverse set of functional areas, including Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Legal, and Compliance
  • Provide a superior level of service across all aspects of client experience, including management of client inquiries, ad hoc issue resolution, and enabling customized and standardized report delivery 
  • Help coordinate life-cycle events of client accounts, including implementation of new business, account restructures/terminations, and impact from regulatory changes. Requires managing tasks across various teams including Strategic Client Services, Client Implementation, Portfolio Management, Trading, Operations, Controllers, Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, and Accounting/Billing 
  • Work on special projects that build out the service model and infrastructure to create scale and efficiencies within the CCG organization 
  • Manage client deliverables including reporting requirements (performance and operational reporting, commentaries) and other service needs as identified by the client 
  • Navigate the organization internally and collaborate across teams including business and operations to resolve client queries in a timely fashion
  • Respond to information requests from clients including information questionnaires, audit requests, and ad-hoc and recurring client inquiries
  • Develop a strong awareness of client interests and investment trends coupled with the intellectual curiosity to explore and research those areas to best deliver the resources of the firm to our clients
  •  BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or finance-related studies
  • 2+ years of work experience at an asset management firm / other financial services organization
  • Strong project management and problem solving skills including an ability to organize and track multiple threads of activity to deliver on tight timelines and a hands-on approach to resolving issues, in partnership with other teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills including an ability to build trust and confidence of colleagues across different regions, strengthen relationships through ongoing dialogue, and collaborate well with others internally to meet client needs
  • Basic knowledge of the asset management business, financial markets and investment funds or separately managed accounts
  • An understanding of portfolio construction, risk management or accounting principles would be beneficial 
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, time management skills and excellent follow-through 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Motivated and proactive self-starter with strong work ethic 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word and exposure to business intelligence tools

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    The role is on the Strategic Data Services team which is part of the Goldman Sachs Asset Management Client Solutions Group. Our team collaborates closely with senior management to drive growth and profitability of the global Third-Party Wealth business by managing core data sets, assisting with strategic initiatives, stewarding data to identify sales opportunities, and developing reporting and analysis. We oversee vendors and perform day-to-day operations that form the foundation of our sales teams day-to-day calling efforts, while also maintaining sales metrics and business / market analytics for divisional and business managers with a clear focus on accuracy and integrity of data. Our team works closely with Engineering and Sales Strategy & Enablement Teams to enhance client relationship management infrastructure as well as streamline processes that impact the broader sales teams.

    YOUR IMPACT

    We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Associate to join our Goldman Sachs Asset Management Client Solutions Group. In this role, you will partner with various teams within the Client Solutions Group to provide analytical support regarding our sales and distribution efforts with key client firms, platforms and registered investment advisors. You will support data management initiatives by leveraging internal and external applications and databases, and by partnering with strategy, engineering, and external vendors to facilitate the use of complete and accurate sales data. You will work with large amounts of data in both an independent and collaborative setting, helping to provide analytical support towards the broader management team. 

    HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Maintain accurate mutual fund, SMA, alternatives, and ETF trade data to facilitate reporting and analysis for the Goldman Sachs Asset Management Client Solutions Group
  • Govern foundational client hierarchy data at the firm, office and rep level while stewarding industry data into downstream tools to identify new opportunities for the sales teams
  • Run data quality controls, reconcile datasets, and update core systems to accurately steward and maintain product data hierarchy 
  • Act as a central point of contact to resolve sales data inquiries and inaccuracies in a timely manner by stewarding data within the CRM while maintaining client coverage and conflict requests
  • Work closely with our sales attribution vendor to oversee the daily reconciliation of trade processing files and downstream reporting
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams such as Engineering, BI and Sales Strategy and Enablement to execute on functionality builds to support sales reporting priorities, as well as downstream analytics, client engagement, and workflow tools
