We’re looking for a Senior Bioinformatician to work in product development! As a Senior Bioinformatician at Pierian, you will be part of an industry-leading team developing bioinformatics solutions for clinical laboratories. Your contributions will enable clinical laboratories and physicians to deliver accurate patient-specific diagnosis and treatments based on an individual’s DNA.
**About Pierian**
**Responsibilities**
- Design, develop and maintain secondary analysis pipelines for the analysis of clinical NGS data
- Collaborate with software engineers, contribute to product development by building and maintaining computational infrastructure for robust, cost-effective, and automated execution of bioinformatics pipelines in the cloud.
- Provide consultation and technical solutions for bioinformatics projects
- Identify and/or conceive novel data science approaches to better and more efficiently analyze client and public datasets.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the bioinformatics software and analytical pipelines development lifecycle.
**Qualifications**
- Ph.D degree or Masters Degree with 2+ years of industrial experience in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Bioengineering, Computational Biology or related field
- Excellent programming skills in Python and Shell scripting
- Experience with Relational database such as Postgres, MySQL or Oracle
- Familiarity with version control systems such as GitHub.
- Experience with Linux/UNIX/Mac OS X based systems
- Experience with high-performance Linux cluster and cloud computing (AWS is preferred).
- 2+ years experience in analyzing next-generation sequencing data such as DNA sequencing and RNA sequencing, and a strong biology background
- Experience with open source bioinformatics tools and publicly available variant databases
- Personal initiative and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to learn and work independently when necessary
