Objectives of the Position

  • Act as National Trade Control officer to monitor trade control related regulations and ensure the trade control compliance for BASF products.
  • Responsible for product stewardship, chemical regulation in India
  • Support the implementation of Responsible Care® initiatives and compliance to BASF and protecting the company’s property and Brand and the environment.
  • Act as Country Expert and responsible for Safety data sheets and product labels for BASF products in India.
  • Manage, lead, train and develop Site product stewards and coordination with regional Product Safety team.
  • Keep knowledge up to date on the new chemical regulations in country and its implication to BASF and implementation in BASF
  • Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

    Product Stewardship:

  • Acts as Country RC Code Leader for Product Stewardship
  • Responsible for the competence development and performance of Site Product Stewards.
  • Provide advisory and consultancy services to the sites & Operating Divisions
  • Responsible for the roll out of Product Safety and Product Stewardship Directives and implement BASF global guidelines in India.
  • Trade control:

  • Responsible for Trade control compliance in India as National Trade control officer.
  • Reporting of the trade control non-compliance and ensuring corrective measures.
  • Liaison with Trade control team of Asia Pacific Region, global trade control team on trade control regulations and ensure proper implementation of BASF guidelines/standards.
  • Chemical regulations

  • Act as a competence and advice coordinator for chemical regulations for BASF in India.
  • Monitoring of any regulatory developments in the country.
  • Implementation of Chemical inventory / India REACH like regulation.
  • Liaison with product safety team of Asia Pacific Region on chemical regulations and ensure proper implementation of BASF guidelines/standards.
  • Country Expert:

  • Act as Country Safety Data Sheet (SDS or MSDS) expert for BASF in India.
  • Act as Country Label Expert (CLE) for BASF In India.
  • Training:

  • Training of site plant product steward responsible persons on Product Stewardship and Chemical regulations.
  • Chemical Regulations Advocacy:

  • Develop collaborative relations with external Chemical Industry Associations e.g. Indian Chemical Council (ICC), CII, FICCI &CHEMEXCIL for common understanding on new regulations and advocacy with government
  • Competency Network:

  • Responsible for coordinating with EHS regional team for the Product stewardship, chemical regulations, and trade control topics.
  • General EHS/RC:

  • Whenever and wherever required support the company in general EHS & Responsible care topic

    Education: M.Sc. (Chemistry) or B.E./ B. Tech (Chemical Engineering)

    Working Experience: More than 10 years of working experience in product stewardship/product safety or chemical manufacturing plant or R&D or EHS

    Technical & Professional Knowledge:

  • Good Product Stewardship and Responsible Care system knowledge
  • Knowledge of international trade control regulations and restrictions
  • Sound knowledge of national and international chemical regulations
