American Express' Third Line of Defense (3LOD), has established a new Credit Risk Review function which is responsible for providing independent oversight and assurance to key Consumer & Commercial credit risk portfolios. The team aims to strengthen our risk management framework and ensure that we continue to uphold the highest standards of credit risk management across the enterprise.
This Credit Risk Review function would be supported by a strong Data Analytics team to enable data-driven and technology-led assurance. We are looking for a dynamic & tenured leader to lead & oversee this Data Analytics team within Credit Risk Review on the 3LOD. This individual will play a key role in enabling deeper, more forward looking reviews through scalable analytics, thematic insights & strong stakeholder management.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Lead a team of ~10 colleagues (including managers and analysts) to deliver analytics solutions that enable and enhance credit risk reviews across portfolios
+ Drive portfolio level analytics to assess credit quality, risk concentrations, underwriting trends & alignment with risk frameworks
+ Enable thematic reviews and early risk identification by applying analytical techniques to structured & unstructured data
+ Design & oversee development of dashboards, visualizations, and automated tools to support review execution & reporting including executive level
+ Collaborate closely with credit reviewers, and cross functional stakeholders to frame analytic approaches, interpret results & co-develop narratives
+ Ensure analytics are well documented, repeatable and governed in line with internal standards and governance protocols

**Qualifications**
+ 8 years' experience in experience in credit risk, data analytics, internal audit, or related fields; commercial and/or retail credit exposure preferred
+ Proven track record in leading & inspiriting diverse, multi-level teams (including managers) to deliver high impact results
+ Experience in portfolio analytics, including segmentation, risk concentration analysis, and forward looking risk indicators
+ Ability to shape and execute multi-year analytics roadmaps, aligned to organizational risk strategy
+ Proven influence at senior stakeholder levels to secure alignment, resources, and cross functional collaboration
+ Strong technical skills in Data analytics, coding & automation (e.g., SQL, Hive, Big Query, Python)
+ Working knowledge of Machine learning techniques including Natural Language Processing and Gen AI applications
+ Hands on experience with Data Visualization tools and Dashboarding (Tableau, Power BI) with a focus on compelling, audience-oriented storytelling
+ Effective storytelling and ability to translate complex data outputs into clear, actionable insights tailored to credit risk reviewers and non-technical audiences
