Summary:  

The Privacy and Data Protection Counsel supports the Company’s global operations and advises on data protection matters, including AI governance, with emphasis on U.S. laws. The Counsel will serve as the key point of contact on general data protection, privacy and security related matters, including the evolution and maintenance of the Company’s global privacy program and compliance efforts. The Privacy and Data Protection Counsel protects the growing business, and the students and educators we serve, in proactively managing privacy regulations and risks internationally.

Essential duties/responsibilities:  

  • Provides strategic legal guidance and counseling, on a broad spectrum of privacy and data protection issues, with an emphasis on student data privacy, including relevant U.S. federal and state laws, international laws, compliance obligations, AI, data privacy in contracts, etc.
  • Supports the ongoing development and implementation of the Company’s global data protection and privacy program in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Partners closely with stakeholders and provides subject matter expertise, advice, and trainings related to data protection legal and compliance obligations.
  • Assists with and monitors compliance with the Company’s data protection and privacy policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Raises awareness and helps create and deliver effective training and guidance to teams across the Company to promote best practices and drive a data protection and privacy-oriented culture.
  • Assists with data governance and compliance efforts, such as preparing and overseeing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs), and other data protection and privacy compliance documentation.
  • Provides subject matter expertise advice and support on the Company’s AI governance and compliance efforts in accordance with relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Advises on appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect and safeguard personal data, with an emphasis on student data.
  • Supports customer conversations as they apply to data protection, privacy and AI and assists with Company vendor contract diligence.
  • Support the business and assist with other compliance matters and legal functions on an as needed, reasonable basis.
  • Required Job Skills and Abilities:  

  • Comprehensive knowledge of global data protection and privacy laws, with strong emphasis on U.S. state and federal student data privacy laws and best practices.
  • Expertise in advising on complex data protection and privacy matters, particularly related to FERPA, COPPA, GDPR, etc.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with lawyers and non-lawyers, to establish effective solutions efficiently and in an amenable manner;

  • Required Education and Experience:  

  • LLB or Juris Doctor from an accredited law school,
  • Enrollment with a State Bar Council under the Bar Council of India and/or passing the All-India Bar Examination, and/or member of the bar in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Five years of global data protection and privacy experience in a law firm or in-house position;
  • Familiarity and experience with advising on student data and Ed Tech matters.

    Position Summary:

    We are seeking a seasoned IT Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, deployment, optimization, and governance of enterprise IT infrastructure and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise across data center operations, Storage technologies, Backup Infrastructure, DR, cloud architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP), cybersecurity, network and system design, and IT governance frameworks.     Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain scalable, resilient, and secure IT infrastructure Storage, DR and Backup solutions (on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud).
  • Primary Responsibilities:

    Solution Architecture & Design

  • Optimize storage allocation, backup retention policies, and recovery workflows.
  • Review and enhance backup schedules to ensure minimal data loss in the event of a failure or disaster.
  • Provide recommendations for storage and backup system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery (DR) Planning & Testing

  • Design, implement, and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans to ensure business continuity in case of catastrophic events.
  • Regularly test and validate disaster recovery procedures, including data failover, failback, and system restoration, to ensure reliability.
  • Implement and manage off-site and cloud-based backups for DR readiness.
  • Establish backup retention policies that balance cost, compliance, and recovery needs.
  • Lead post-mortem analysis and continuous improvement initiatives after any backup or disaster recovery event.

  • Provide Tier 3 support for escalated storage, backup, and DR-related issues and assist IT support teams in resolving incidents.

  • Drive implementation of cybersecurity controls, including endpoint protection (EDR/XDR), firewalls, DLP, ZTNA, and compliance tools (ISO 27001, ISO 2000, HIPAA, PCI).
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure business continuity through BCP/DRP strategies.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Prepare and maintain high-level and low-level design documentation (HLD/LLD), SOPs, and runbooks.
  • Create and publish knowledge base (KB) articles in platforms like ServiceNow for support teams.

    Key Accountabilities


    • Evaluate the current state of the Personal Data Protection environment.
    • Create Data Management and Personal Data Protection Strategy and Plan, the Entity shall create a Personal Data Support in delivery of enterprise-wide Data Protection& Privacy program and provide guidance on global standards and best practices.
    • Create a Data Classification Plan to manageand orchestrate bank’s Data Classification activities
    • Develop prioritization list based on the classification level of “datasets” and “artifacts” for the organization.
    • Identify and inventory all datasets andartifacts owned by the Bank as part of the Data Classification Implementation process
    • Oversee that policies, processes, guidelines and standards related to Data Protection & Privacy (Such as: Consent Management, Data Subject Rights Management, Data Localization, Personal Data Access, Sharing and Transfer, Personal Data BreachHandling, etc.) are communicated andenforced throughout the organization.
    • Develop material and conduct the Personal Data Protection training for every employee to promote a Personal Data Protection-centric culture in accordance with the Entity-specific and national privacyregulations. Liaise and respondto the Data Protection Authority of KSA for regulatory queries and audits.
    • Develop and document breach management procedures to directly manage and address the privacyviolations and to set the functions andresponsibilities for the affected work team, covering
    • Process for conducting incident review by the DataController with the Regulatory Authority

    Development of response mechanism based on incident reported by the Data Controller and / or Data Processor


    Detailed Tasks


    • Implementing processes to perform permanent corrective actions when issued by the Regulatory Authority
    • Developing testing of the implemented corrective actions to validate personal data protection solution(s).
    • Drive privacy operations such as impactassessments, data mapping through the implemented privacy technology solution across business departments.
    • Work with website development team to review the third-party cookies and provide guidance on managing on marketing/ preference consent stored within business departments ,as per the applicable regulatory law.
    • Support in identifying third party privacy risks by conducting vendor privacy risk assessments through technology andco-ordinate with business departments to highlight the risks and providing risk mitigation recommendations.
    • Ensure all thecustomer facing channels of the organization comply with applicable regulatory requirements by conducting a thorough assessment.
    • Support in personal data discovery through automation and reviewthe PII inventory for the organization.
    • Ensure and verifysensitive personal data elements areidentified during data discovery exercise through technology implementation.
    • Support in establishing record of processing activities through the technology implementation.


    Techno Functional Capability

    • Analyze existing data governance tools, processes, and workflows to identify opportunities for automation
    • Design and implement automated workflows to simplify and accelerate core data governance activities such as data classification, data lineage, metadata management, policy enforcement, and reporting
    • Integrate data governance tools with other enterprise applications (e.g. data catalogs, data quality tools, business intelligence platforms, QlickServe, Remedy, JIRA, Control-M and DataPrivacy tools suchas Securiti.ai or OneTrust) to enable end- to-end automation
    • Develop custom scripts, macros, and other automation artifacts to enhance the functionality of data governance tools
    • Configure and maintain scheduling, monitoring, and alerting for automated data governance workflows
    • Continuously optimize and improve theefficiency and reliability of data governance automation
    • Collaborate with datagovernance and IT stakeholders to ensure alignment with

    enterprise architecture and security/compliance requirements


    QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, cyber-security or relate areas.

    • 6+ years of progressive experience in Data Governance and Data Privacy in a banking environment
