Job Description: Data Science Analyst

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality analytics, from data preparation, data analysis, data exploration, data quality assessment, data manipulation, method selection, design & application, insights generation and visualisation
• Develop and implement basic machine learning models and algorithms under the guidance of senior data scientists to extract insights and solve business problems
• Proactive learning and acquisition of key analytical, technical and commercial skills and business knowledge to become a proficient Analyst working under the supervision of the senior/lead data science analysts.
• KPIs: Timeliness, accuracy, manager and client feedback (Internal and external as required)
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and demonstrate the ability to transform client questions and problems into analytical solutions
• Active team member in providing the required support to help business understand and optimise use of analytical products and / or solutions
• Build industry knowledge on the advancements in the field of analytics, data science and GenAI
• Comply with the IM Cigna and CHSI Policies, procedures and processes, and continuously demonstrate Cigna Data and Analytics culture.

Key activities

Experience and education required

• 2-4+ years' experience in a technical analytics environment, carrying out data analytics and data science/AI projects and initiatives
• Tertiary qualifications in engineering, mathematics, actuarial studies, statistics, physics, or a related discipline
• Knowledge of technical analytics discipline, including data preparation and foundational analytics concepts
• Experience with successfully managing both internal and external stakeholders, delivering against projects, tasks and activities in a dynamic deadline driven environment
• Commercial acumen to understand business needs and be able to suggest the commercial impacts of different analytics solutions or approaches
• Coding and modelling experience in SQL / R / Python and / or Cloud data platforms e.g. AWS
• Experience in visualization and data management tools is an added advantage
• Experience in GenAI/ LLMs is an added advantage
• Experience working with complex datasets
• Attention to detail and self driven continuous learning
• Participation in external data hackathons and competitions will be an added advantage

Role Overview

We seek a motivated Data Science analyst to design, implement, and optimize cutting-edge generative AI solutions. Youll work closely with senior engineers to build applications leveraging LLMs (e.g., GPT-4, Claude, Gemini), diffusion models, and multimodal systems while adhering to ethical AI practices. This will be a hands-on individual contributor role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Model Development & Fine-Tuning

2. Assist in developing, training, and fine-tuning generative models (text, image,code) using frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.

3. Implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines and optimize prompts for specific domains.

4. Tooling & Integration

5. Build applications using tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Hugging Face Transformers.

6. Integrate GenAI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral) into enterprise workflows.

7. Prompt Engineering

8. Design and test advanced prompting strategies (e.g., few-shot learning, chain-of-thought, ReAct frameworks) for domain-specific tasks (legal, healthcare, finance).

9. Create reusable prompt templates for common workflows (customer support, code generation, content moderation).

10. Evaluation & Optimization

11. Develop metrics for hallucination reduction, output consistency, and safety alignment.

12. Optimize model inference costs using quantization, distillation, or speculative decoding.

13. Collaboration

14. Work with cross-functional teams (product, data engineers, UX) to deploy AI solutions.

15. Document technical processes and contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.

• Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI/ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow).

• Basic understanding of NLP (tokenization, attention mechanisms) and neural architectures (Transformers, GANs).

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI, Azure ML).

• Proficiency in prompt engineering tools: LangChain, DSPy, Guidance, or LMQL.

• Experience with AI deployment tools: FastAPI, Docker, or MLflow for model serving

• AI/GenAI Exposure and experience with at least two of the following:

• Hands-on projects with LLMs (fine-tuning, prompt engineering) or diffusion models.

• Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Milvus) and orchestration tools.
• Fine-tuning/training LLMs (e.g., Llama 2, Mistral) using LoRA, QLoRA, or RLHF.
• Building RAG pipelines with vector DBs (Pinecone, Weaviate) and embedding models (BERT, OpenAI text-embedding).
• Developing applications with diffusion models (Stable Diffusion, DALL-E) or autoregressive architectures (GPT variants).

• Contributions to NLP projects (sentiment analysis, NER, text summarization) using libraries like spaCy or NLTK.

• Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving abilities and curiosity about emerging AI trends.

• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Azure: Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate.

• GCP: Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer.

• Perform, plan co-ordinate and implement the following for complex studies: (i) the programming, testing, and documentation of statistical programs for use in creating statistical tables, figures, and listing and (ii) the programming of analysis datasets (derived datasets) and transfer files for internal and external clients and (iii) the programming quality control checks for the source data and report the data issues periodically.
