The Civil & Structural (C&S) Delivery Services Lead (DSL)(the role) manages a centralized team of offshore structural and floating systems engineers. This team provides technical support to bp’s regional offshore assets. The role line-reports to the Chief Engineer Civil and Structural (C&S) and functionally collaborates with the IM Delivery Services Manager, based in Pune or equivalent experience. The role will be an active member of the Chief’s leadership team.
The role handles and provides technical guidance of team members, allocates accurate resources to support the regional C&S Integrity Management (IM) program, promotes a consistent way of working and standardization of C&S IM procedures across the regions, and supervises the technical delivery of the team in conformance with bp engineering practice, industry codes, and regulatory requirements. The incumbent will support establishing the Pune C&S IM team and recruiting the right talent for bp.
We seek a candidate with solid offshore structural or floating systems discipline knowledge and deep integrity management experience to make fit-for-purpose recommendations to operation and rigor leaders. The incumbent should have a project, squad, or team management tracking record and can articulate exciting technical questions with risks and effectively connect with team members to ensure engineering risks are understood, controlled, and continuously reduced to support safe and reliable operation.
What you will deliver
- Collaboration - one of two C&S DSLs, you will handle a C&S IM team in bp’s India Pune office, working with the Chief Engineer, Global C&S Field Leads and IM Delivery Services Manager to provide IM resources and resolve technical issues.
- Management - You will handle and empower the C&S IM team; agree individuals’ annual performance goals and Continuing Professional Development (CPD); and perform quality assurance of team members’ technical delivery in conformance with bp’s engineering practices and performance standards, industry codes and regulatory requirements.
- Engineering - provide C&S technical support to the regional IM squad team (≈50%).
- Risk - You will work to ensure C&S IM risks are understood, quantified, reported and managed across the business to support safe and reliable operations. You will bring up high-risk activities to the Chief Engineer C&S or relevant rigor manager/advisor as vital.
- Ways of working - You will support the standardization of workflow processes and procedures, including anomaly management, Inspection Data Management System (IDMS), risk and engineering assessment tools, etc.
- Learning – You will actively give to the C&S Community of Practice, sharing guideline, lessons and discipline knowledge across assets.
- Audit – You will support bp group, Safety & Operation Risk Assurance (S&ORA) and field audit, performing self-verification of C&S IM programs and intervening as vital.
- Well-being, D&I – You will promote the uptake of the team’s wellbeing plan aligned to the P&C wellbeing agenda. You will support the progression of the diversity and inclusion of gender and ethnicity representation in the team as opportunities arise.
- Code of conduct – lead by example, ensuring your team adheres to bp’s code of conduct, ethics and compliance rules, and values & behaviours.
Must have educational qualifications:
- BSc or BEng (India), BSc (UK/US), or international equivalent, in civil engineering, structural engineering, naval architecture, ocean engineering, or a closely aligned field.
- MSc or MEng (India), MSc (UK/US), or international equivalent in civil engineering, structural engineering, naval architecture, ocean engineering, or a closely aligned field.
Must have (or demonstrably working towards) certifications:

- Knowledge of relevant industry standards , project management, build drawings, management of change, loadout/installation/removal, risk assessment and performance management, inspection, maintenance & repair strategies, and process safety.
- Experience and deep technical understanding of risk management and safety leadership in operating O&G facilities.
- Deep knowledge and shown experience in offshore fixed jacket (topside and jacket) or floating platform (hull and mooring) develop , construction, installation, and integrity management.
- Experience in management and mentor of technical teams in an international environment.
- Experience in collaborating with and influencing stakeholders and decision-making at all levels. Ability to articulate complex technical questions in simple language.

- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure mechanical soundness and safety compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and delivery details.
- Load and unload cargo as required, ensuring proper securing of goods to prevent damage during transit.
- Address and resolve any issues that arise during transit, such as traffic delays, vehicle malfunctions, or delivery discrepancies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other stakeholders regarding delivery status and any encountered problems.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle interior and exterior.
- Report any accidents, injuries, or mechanical failures immediately to management.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior drivers on safe operating practices and route efficiency.
- Assist with inventory checks and yard management as needed during non-driving periods.
Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for the type of vehicles operated.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience with a clean driving record.
- Proven ability to operate large commercial vehicles safely and competently.
- Familiarity with common transportation routes and logistics in the region.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety inspection procedures.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina to perform duties, including lifting and loading where necessary.
- Knowledge of electronic logging devices (ELDs) is a plus.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional nights, as required by the operational needs.
