Design Manager, Data Center (Electrical)
Location: Navi Mumbai, India
Experience Required: 1520 years total; at least 5 years in Data Center electrical/mechanical design and 2 years as a Data Center Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all engineering management activities, coordinating with clients and internal disciplines (Projects, Piping, Mechanical, Architecture, Civil, Vendors).
- Act as the de-facto manager for the Data Center sector.
- Mentor, train, and motivate assigned team members to meet project objectives.
- Drive successful delivery of Data Center services with minimal supervision.
Guide Data Center Leads to:
Define scope of work and estimate efforts
- Monitor project schedules and team productivity
Adhere to departmental processes and quality management systems
Ensure effective communication among stakeholders.
Lead detailed electrical engineering tasks via Data Center Leads:
Prepare load lists and ensure redundancy via load balancing
- Review single-line diagrams (SLDs), optimize power distribution, equipment layout, and comply with NBC/CEIG/Electricity rules
- Evaluate design drawings and calculations for efficiency
- Ensure timely completion of designs, requisitions, and deliverables
Review system studies: ETAP load flow, short circuit, ArcFlash, harmonics
Manage knowledge sharing, maintain the Data Center database, and ensure NDA compliance for ongoing/completed projects.
- Review tenders and BOQs to minimize erection-phase variations.
- Provide creative, critical-thinking solutions to design or site challenges.
- Support site troubleshooting and manage technical queries and non-conformities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with First Class standing.
- Deep experience in electrical/mechanical design for Data Centers, especially with high-load systems (>100MVA).
Proficiency in:
3D review software (e.g., Navisworks)
- Document tools like Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat
MS Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of relay settings is desirable.
- Strong client relationship management, value-engineering, and critical thinking skills.

Role Description
Design Review & Management
- Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings for accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Maintain a centralized log of drawing revisions, RFIs, and approvals, ensuring version control across all disciplines.
- Analyze and highlight design discrepancies early to avoid rework during execution.
Coordination & Stakeholder Communication
- Organize and facilitate design review meetings with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors.
- Act as the primary interface between project design teams and on-site construction staff for clarifications and technical decisions.
- Coordinate with heritage experts, sthapathis, and cultural consultants to maintain design authenticity and Vastu alignment.
Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure architectural designs meet safety, structural, aesthetic, and sustainability standards.
- Verify that designs align with heritage and cultural requirements, including traditional stone masonry practices.
- Support the vetting process with academic and technical bodies to obtain timely approvals.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and circulate meeting minutes, progress reports, and approval logs for management and stakeholders.

Execution Support
- Collaborate with site engineers and contractors to ensure drawings are correctly implemented during construction.
