What you’ll be doing
Responsible for the completion of build, support or investigation of problems using department instructions, tools and process as a guide.
Responsible for ensuring that all IP transport equipment is relevant to today’s requirements, but also follows the live network roadmap in terms of product and vendor selection.
Maintaining SLA’s where practical and in the event that an SLA is not met, working to achieve the earliest resolution.
Identify technical solutions which will avoid repeated raising of work packages for similar problems, plan their potential implementation assess their impact and make the agreed changes.
Develop additional areas of knowledge and expertise to widen the overall Test Facility understanding and how all technical components work together, being recognised as a technical expert in multiple areas.
Define the proactive work required in order to maintain the test estate in order that it is usable by the wider integration, test and development communities driving improvements in the team’s working and technical methods.
Work using local processes as a guide and implement changes in order to improve the process. Represent the team as an owner of the process.
Configure and troubleshoot PKI CA certificates systems for secure authentication and communication.
Responsible to abide by and maintain company Health and Safety policy.Responsible for guiding Environment Manager’s on the IP Transport detail for each requirement.
Responsible for the tech labs relationship with the Service Architecture and Operational design teams, to ensure live alignment in labs.
The skills you’ll need
Intermediate level relevant knowledge of IP Transport.
Either have passed Cisco CCNP, Juniper JNCIP or Nokia NRS-2 have demonstrable equivalent knowledge and experience,
Solid experience in CheckPoint/Fortinet Firewall product families.
Energy passion and commitment.
Excellent breadth of knowledge of other technical areas of work; e.g. Core, RAN, IP or VASI, Network Support, Facility Services
Able to fully describe the key elements of a mobile network and understand how the components function and interact.
Understand the detail of how a call is made and received over the network and the systems it touches en route.
Very good knowledge of the Testing and Project Life-cycles.
Significant experience of Operation & Maintenance.
An ability to understand and assimilate technical jargon.
Able to interpret and implement complex transport designs within test and proof of concept networks.
Technical experience implementing interior routing protocols such as Integrated IS-IS and OSPF.
Technical experience with internet routing and architecture (BGP4) and able to implement into a service provider network
Experienced with Quality of Service (DiffServ, HQoS, MPLS EXP) and able to implement QoS policies within a converged voice and data network.
Technical experience implementing MPLS layer 3 technologies, primarily within a Juniper MPLS network.
Technical experience implementing modern and legacy Data Centre and LAN switching technologies, primarily within a Cisco LAN switched environment (Cat6k, Nexus 7k).
An in depth knowledge is required in the operation of the Network infrastructure and an overall general knowledge of IT & Networks.
