Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Research Associate in the Energy Sector (Policy & Regulation) located in Bengaluru. The Research Associate will be responsible for analyzing energy markets, managing energy data, and conducting industry research to support policy and regulation development.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct in-depth research on energy policies, regulatory frameworks, and market trends, with a focus on India’s energy transition.
- Analyze the implications of energy regulations on key stakeholders, including government bodies, private sector players, utilities, and investors.
- Prepare white papers, and presentations capturing critical insights on energy policies notified by the Central and State governments, regulatory changes like Deviation settlement mechanism, grid reforms, forecasting and scheduling reforms, open access and green energy open access reforms, etc and the geopolitical events and its impact on Indian energy security.
- Structure research problems, and contribute to team discussions on strategic initiatives.
- Engage with government agencies, private sector entities, and industry leaders through meetings, emails, and conference calls to understand the issues and write concept papers on those issues.
- Compile, analyze, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to provide actionable insights for policy advocacy, regulatory analysis and concept papers.
- Support IPPAI’s advocacy initiatives by preparing expert analysis on regulatory reforms and renewable energy policies.
- Utilize key research databases, Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and apply business research frameworks to generate impactful insights.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from a reputed institute with minimum 3 years of experience in policy analysis, regulatory research, or energy consulting.
- Strong understanding and expertise in India’s power sector.
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills with a solution-oriented approach.
