About the position:
The Process Engineering Lead is part of the Process Engineering and Automation team within Chevron's ENGINE Center. This role supervises a team of Process Engineers that provide technical support to Chevron's business units, such as supporting Operations to troubleshoot and optimize existing operating assets, process design support to capital projects and developing and implementing digital tools to enhance process monitoring. The Process Engineering Lead will manage a team that forms part of a larger Process Engineering function across Chevron, working closely with their counterparts in the Chevron Technical Center (CTC).
Key responsibilities:
- Provide a safe, respectful work environment for the team
- Manage team in support of the team's subject matter consulting for capital projects or existing operations across the enterprise.
- Provide leadership & direction in the areas of process engineering, facility optimization, process simulation, process troubleshooting of equipment items and capital project support.
- Collaborate with functionally linked CTC chapter manager(s) in work assignment and prioritization of the Process Engineering Team in the ENGINE.
- Coordinate training, mentoring, coaching, career development, performance management responsibilities for direct reports.
- Ensure that team and individual deliverables are understood, performance expectations are clear, and that progress is measured and reported.
- Participate in recruitment and hiring within Process Engineering and Automation team
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.E./B. Tech) in chemical engineering or related field from a recognized (AICTE) university
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills to interact with Chevron's global employee workforce
- Demonstrated supervisory experience of diverse engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven 10-15+ years of process engineering experience in upstream, downstream, LNG or petrochemical process facilities. Possibly through operation support engineering assignments or process design work for capital projects.
- Experience in performing analytical calculations such as mass transfer, fluid flow, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, process control, kinetics and equipment sizing.
- Experience in working with process monitoring tools and process modeling software, such as PI, Seeq, Hysys, PROII, etc.
- Awareness of Process Safety Management concepts and principles such as Process Hazards Analysis, Alarm Objective Analysis, Integrity Operating Windows, etc.
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:30pm.

1. Process & Manufacturing Engineering
- Develop, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing processes for fabrication, tubular components, and paint shop operations .
- Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective/preventive actions to improve efficiency and product quality.

- Implement paint material control, minimize wastage, and ensure environment, health, and safety (EHS) compliance.
4. Quality & System Implementation
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of DFMEA, FMEA, APQP, and PPAP for process and product validation.
- Collaborate with quality and design teams for first-time-right production , ensuring compliance to ISO / IATF 16949 standards.
- Drive root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement plans based on quality feedback.
5. Lean Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering
- Apply Lean Manufacturing tools such as VSM (Value Stream Mapping) , Line Balancing , DILO (Day In the Life Of) , and TOC (Theory of Constraints) to streamline processes.
- Conduct facility layout planning, capacity analysis , and workforce optimization for improved operational flow.
- Manage production services including routings, cell manufacturing, material handling, and workflow management.

The ideal candidate would be a skilled chemical engineering professional with experience in design engineering, FEED, basic and detailed engineering, procurement and sourcing, cost estimation, process safety management, plant commissioning and start-up.
Work Experience: 10-20 years
Technical Skills
- Ability to lead FEED and detailed engineering for commercial equipment, integrate modular skids and ensure operability.
- Process design and engineering: Ideation, planning, preparation, review, and finalisation of basic and detailed engineering across process, civil structural and architecture, electrical, mechanical and piping, instrumentation and control, packaging, HVAC, fire protection and balance of systems.
- Experience with procurement, vendor engagement, technical bid analysis and negotiation for the fabrication of custom-built engineering equipment (custom furnaces, heat exchangers, pumps, reactors, packed beds, physical separation processes), preparation of execution phase contracts.
- Plant erection, commissioning, design and analysis of experiments, activity scheduling, human resources allocation, plant troubleshooting, and optimisations.
- Process modeling and simulation, prior experience with modeling high-temperature reactors and fractionation columns preferred (MATLAB, Aspen Plus, ChemCAD, etc.).
