About the position:
Chevron ENGINE is looking for high-performing candidates to join our Reservoir Engineering and Simulation team with a focus on software development. The Reservoir Engineering and Simulation team focuses on field development/application as well as technology development. This role performs Reservoir Engineering and Simulation related software development to support Chevron operations. Will be involved in enhancing Chevron's Reservoir Simulation and Optimization workflows to provide differentiating capability and integration of a mix of proprietary and best-in-class vendor products. The senior simulation development engineer should have sufficient experience and expertise to coach and mentor others in the team.
Key responsibilities:
+ Teaming with US-based R&D groups focusing on developing and deploying reservoir simulation and optimization products and workflows
+ Targeted user-experience and data management development, e.g., GUI, Power-BI, data engineering, machine learning engineering, and mature digital MVPs (Minimal Viable Products)
+ Application testing, pipeline, build and release in cloud platform
+ Application run, maintain and user support
+ Development of technical software and training documentation
+ Coaching and mentoring
Required Qualifications:
+ BSc/MSc degree in Petroleum Engineering or related areas
+ At least three years of experience in Petroleum Engineering or related industry
+ Demonstrated fluency in engineering software development, including python, C#, C++, HPC (MPI, GPU, threading), cloud computing frameworks, Azure ecosystems developments (pipelines, dashboards, visualization, data management systems)
+ Understanding of physical process associated with subsurface flow and the relationship to the governing model equations required for subsurface flow simulations
+ Understanding of subsurface uncertainty analysis and optimization technologies and workflows, such as design of experiments and history matching
+ Ability to integrate reservoir simulation & optimization workflows & engines with cloud platforms & services (DELFI, OSDU, RESQML)
+ Experience of customer support and understanding of subsurface business needs and utilizing SAFe agile processes to implement highly prioritized features
+ Good communication skills and work effectively in a team environment
+ Familiarity with reservoir simulation, uncertainty & optimization (U&O) workflows, Intersect, Petrel-RE, and Petroleum Experts IPM is preferred but not a must
+ Skills of using ML/AI to accelerate performance, and accuracy of reservoir simulation & optimization is preferred but not a must
+ Direct experience with flow-geomechanics coupling, surface-subsurface coupling, unconventional reservoirs, uncertainty analysis, optimization, computational geosciences, fracture modeling, discretization, gridding, improved/enhanced/chemical oil recovery is a plus but not a must

•Interface with the product design teams to discuss technical inputs for simulations, failure modes, CTQs and carry out simulations, theoretical calculations to identify and mitigate risks through design recommendations.
•Collaborate with design & validation teams to enhance the design optimization. Conduct correlation study with actual test results and address correlation gaps.
•Support project execution through participation in design review meetings and core team meetings providing design recommendations. Identify Innovation opportunities.

•Strong theoretical knowledge on Strength of materials
•Implement productivity improvement methods through simulations. Identify VAVE opportunities.

DESIRED SKILLS:
•12-16 years of industry experience in simulation techniques such as Structural, Vibration & Thermal analysis.

•Experience on Auto connector products (Plastic and Sheet Metal parts) is an added advantage.

- Provide simulation support to Energy product line on the thermal management of the CCA and the battery packs.
- Conduct detailed thermal simulations and analyses using state-of-the-art software tools and prepare best practices documents.
- Provide insights and recommendations for thermal management enhancements, ensuring optimal product functionality and reliability.
- Support global product development team to ensure first time right during design phase.
- Perform model correlation & validation with empirical data and refine existing modelling methodology for prediction accuracy enhancement.
- Establish new modelling approach to address challenging design in the EV battery management system.
- Develop new technology simulation related to ENNOVI products and create standard work instructions.
- Thorough knowledge of material properties and test methods.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, laboratories, external customers, and suppliers on material characterization & test vehicles for detailed modelling inputs and validations.
Qualification
- ME/MS degree in Mechanical with specialization in Thermal Management.
- 10+ years of hands-on thermal management engineering experience related to EV battery pack product & Energy system. Experience in Electro-Thermal analysis is mandatory.
- Experience in performing thermal analysis on flexible PCB.
- Must have hands on experience in deriving thermal behaviour of a system when subjected to combined structural thermal analysis.
- Solid knowledge through academic coursework or experience required in Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, CFD Simulation under steady state and transient conditions.
- Experience with CAE packages such as ANSYS Fluent, Icepak, Workbench is mandatory.
- Knowledge of thermal management techniques such as Finite Volume Analysis, Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
- Candidate will need to communicate complex engineering and physics concepts to a wide-ranging audience through both written and verbal means.
