Job Description
As a Senior Industrial Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, integration, and commissioning of automation systems for industrial applications. Your tasks will include programming PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. You will also develop control strategies, perform system testing, and provide remote technical support to clients. Experience with robotic integration, industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet), and cybersecurity for industrial control systems is essential. You will work with clients to understand their automation needs and deliver tailored, efficient solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical or mechanical engineering with extensive experience in industrial automation. Proficiency in programming multiple PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi) is required. You should be skilled in HMI/SCADA software and have experience with motion control and servo systems. A solid understanding of industrial networking protocols, data acquisition, and manufacturing execution systems (MES) is highly beneficial. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects remotely are critical. This role demands a proactive approach to identifying automation opportunities and implementing innovative solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for industrial automation.
- Program and configure a variety of automation hardware and software platforms.
- Develop and optimize control algorithms and system logic for efficient operation.
- Conduct system integration, testing, and commissioning of automation solutions.
- Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for installed automation systems.
- Collaborate with clients to define automation requirements and project scopes.
- Design and implement robotic cells and automated assembly lines.
- Configure and manage industrial networks and communication protocols.
- Develop and implement cybersecurity measures for industrial control systems.
- Create detailed system documentation, including electrical schematics, program narratives, and user manuals.
- Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in industrial automation and smart manufacturing.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial automation engineering.
- Proven expertise in programming and configuring PLCs from major manufacturers (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000).
- Experience with HMI/SCADA software packages (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, FactoryTalk View).
- Solid understanding of industrial networks and protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus/Profinet, Modbus).
- Experience with robotics programming and integration (e.g., Fanuc, KUKA, ABB).
- Knowledge of motion control, servo systems, and VFDs.
- Familiarity with MES and data acquisition systems.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent remote collaboration and communication abilities.
- Experience with cybersecurity best practices for ICS/SCADA is a significant plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote environment.
