Position Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced CFD Engineer with strong expertise in aerospace engineering and aerodynamics to join our UAV development team. The candidate will play a critical role in developing, evaluating, and optimizing multirotor and fixed-wing UAVs using advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. This position requires not only technical depth in CFD but also strong aerospace domain knowledge, practical design experience, and the ability to provide actionable design insights that shape next-generation UAV platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct CFD simulations for multirotor and fixed-wing UAVs, covering a wide range of flight regimes and design conditions.
- Analyze and interpret simulation results to evaluate aerodynamic performance, flow characteristics, stability, and efficiency.
- Suggest and implement design improvements based on CFD findings to optimize UAV performance.
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop aerodynamic surfaces, ensuring aerodynamic efficiency is considered throughout the design process.
- Perform aerodynamic hand calculations and trade-off analyses to support CFD results and guide preliminary design stages.
- Provide predictive insights into UAV behavior based on simulation and theoretical methods.
- Generate detailed technical reports, design documentation, and presentations to support decision-making and communicate findings.
- Act as a subject matter expert in aerodynamics and CFD methods, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to best practices in simulation workflows.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), including turbulence modeling, meshing strategies, solver setup, and post-processing.
- Strong background in aerospace engineering and aerodynamic principles, with proven experience in UAV or aircraft development.
- Proficiency in CAD software (preferably Siemens NX) for model preparation and design integration.
- Ability to conduct and validate aerodynamic calculations (lift, drag, stability, performance estimations) as part of the design process.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace concepts, including stability & control, propulsion- airframe interactions, and flight dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to translate simulation data into actionable design recommendations.
