The Lead Sanitation Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive sanitation programs, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cleaning validation, and pest control strategies. You will lead a team of sanitation specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance management. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, FSMA), chemical safety, microbiology, and sanitation equipment. Your responsibilities will include conducting regular audits, risk assessments, and developing corrective action plans to address any sanitation deficiencies. This role requires excellent analytical skills to interpret data, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement in sanitation efficacy and efficiency. You will collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, Production, and Engineering departments to integrate sanitation best practices into all operational aspects. Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive sanitation programs and SOPs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Lead and mentor the sanitation team, providing training and performance oversight.
  • Conduct regular sanitation audits and risk assessments of all facilities.
  • Oversee cleaning validation processes and maintain related documentation.
  • Manage pest control programs in coordination with external vendors.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve sanitation-related issues, implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Production, QA, and Engineering teams to optimize sanitation processes.
  • Manage sanitation supplies inventory and budget effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sanitation efficacy and efficiency.
  • Stay updated on the latest sanitation technologies and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in sanitation management within the food and beverage industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of food safety principles, HACCP, FSMA, and relevant regulations.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing effective sanitation programs.
  • Strong understanding of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and microbiological testing.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage teams and projects effectively in a remote setting.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Certification as a Food Protection Professional (CFP) or similar is highly desirable.
This is a fully remote position. While our operational headquarters are in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, IN , your duties will be performed entirely from your remote work location.
