Role and Responsibility:
The Functional Safety Engineer will be responsible for the ISO 26262 safety plan implementation for the Silicon Solutions Group (SSG) IP's (including but not limited to processors, hardware accelerators and controllers) targeted for automotive products, and development of ISO 26262 compliant processes, infrastructure and work products. He/she will work with the safety organizations of our customers, vendors, external safety expert consultants and internal product development teams to ensure that the functional safety process is well understood, executed and documented.
This role will be an integral part of an agile engineering team that focuses on bringing safety and cybersecurity solutions per the ISO 26262 and ISO 21434 standards to Cadence customers in the fast growing Automotive/ADAS markets.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Act as Functional Safety Engineer for Cadence/SSG Safety related HW & SW products
+ Create and/or support functional safety work products according to ISO 26262 which include the Safety Plan, Safety Manual, Safety Requirements, and Safety Analysis including qualitative and quantitative FMEDA, and Safety Verification and Validation activities on SSG IP's as a SEooC (Safety Element out of Context).
+ Collaborate with project engineers, marketing & development team, safety consultants, vendors and customers on Functional Safety activities
+ Work with architecture team on Functional Safety products to propose safety features and define the safety architecture
+ Create/review functional safety documentation according to ISO 26262
+ Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development cycles
Requirements:
+ BSEE/BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). MS preferred.
+ 5 or more years of total relevant work experience.
+ Experience or familiarity with Microprocessor, DSP, hardware accelerator and hardware accelerator architecture/design and verification processes, SoC/ASIC design methodologies (RTL and Synthesis).
+ Willingness and motivation to learn and apply standard compliance requirements of emerging markets
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and clear, concise documentation writing skills
+ Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management, customers and partners.
Good To Have:
+ Experience in ISO 26262, safety certification strongly preferred.
+ Experience in FMEDA, DFA, FMEA, FTA
+ Proven record of taking customer safety requirements from concept to final product
+ Scripting, programming and process automation skill
+ Experience in fault injection techniques
+ Familiarity with Configuration, Requirements, and Documentation Management tools (e.g. Perforce, Jama, JIRA, etc)
+ Knowledge of ISO 21434
+ Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management standard
+ Experience with embedded HW/SW systems Product Development Life Cycle (Processors, Software)

**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Execute process and functional safety assessment for multiple projects on plant systems (HRSG, water steam cycle and BOP) following Process Safety methodology based on IEC61882 and Functional Safety process based on IEC61511 for Gas Power.
+ Monitor progresses to ensure GE Vernova priorities are met: Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost in this order.
+ Work closely with all other interface functions to execute Process and Functional Safety, ensuring that hazards are identified and mitigated, and the required actions are correctly followed up.
+ Support business initiatives in Quality, Lean, Continuous Improvement related to Process and Functional Safety.
+ Support continuous improvement to meet or exceed the annual priorities.
+ Lead, drive, and resolve safety and quality issues for successful execution of Process and Functional Safety in projects, including partnering with site teams to resolve site commissioning issue for successful startups and commissioning.
+ Interact with Authorities and Inspection/Certification Agencies to validate compliance to safety standards.
+ Ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures.

- Understanding and including the impact of equipment sparing, redundancy, reliability, availability, maintainability, and maintenance cost in support of Operations Excellence and Capital efficiency in planning and design phase.
- Guide the team to implement work processes, procedures, and quality policy in the project.
- Responsible for technical integrity of all Instrument Engineering Design activities deliverables for work performed by team members through project lifecycle phases and for compliance to project specific performance, quality and HSE requirements relevant to scope of work.
- Manage instrument engineering technical interfaces with equipment and package suppliers for assigned areas to ensure compliance with technical requirements.
- Represent instrument discipline in meetings, workshops and technical reviews that relate to instrument engineering.

- Lead the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of functional safety & cyber security engineering topics for commercial vehicles.
- Manage a team of vehicle cyber security & functional safety engineers, analysts, and specialists, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management. Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Formulate, execute & track Cybersecurity projects for TARA/ Concepts creation according to industry standards, e.g. ISO/SAE 21434 'Road - Vehicles Cybersecurity engineering', SAE J3061 or similar.
- End to end development and responsibility of cyber security technologies & functional safety concept towards current EE architecture and towards software defined vehicle architecture.
- Impact analysis, HARA Analysis, Functional Safety concepts (FSC) & development/review of Technical safety concepts (TSC), supplier moderation and Verification & Validation as per ISO 26262.
- Plan and track progress to achieve results within the approved project schedules, estimated costs /efforts and quality plan.
- Effective and timely stakeholder management.
- Active and engaged member of the TT/S cross-function Diagnostics, Cyber Security, Functional Safety organization.
- Regional lead for all functional safety processes and work products to be implemented across the globe, working closely with the FUSA center of competency and FUSA managers ensuring these work product are consistent and of the highest quality.
- Develop and lead local cyber security architects and functional safety engineers through the creation of a culture that prioritizes individual development and high-quality standards for all work products.
- Work closely with commercial truck system and component owners throughout the development cycle to implement and validate safety goals and security measures according to established global processes.
- Constantly challenge the status-quo, upgrade team competencies, create new business opportunities.
- Creation and execution of program/project strategy with roadmap at the team level to continuously expand the current horizon of the present work share at India location
- As a part of leadership team, ensure alignment to implement the strategy in line with organization strategy
- Driving Innovation by bringing-in a culture towards problem identification, development of problem statements, generation of new ideas towards solution, create proof of Concepts and build a strong case for an early productization and also patenting.

Qualifications
- 12 - 18 yrs industry exp with B. Tech/M. Tech in Engineering or any associated disciplines
- Working experience on Functional Safety or Automotive Cybersecurity
- 2+ years of experience on direct people management as a line manager of a team size of ~15
- Prior experience on leading team on developing Cyber Security TARA/ Concepts according to industry standards, e.g. ISO/SAE 21434 'Road - Vehicles Cybersecurity engineering', SAE J3061. Good knowledge of CMMI / ISO 14229/ ISO 26262/ ISO 21434 /ASPICE quality standards
- Deep understanding of the technology / systems engineering is essential for this role
