Department: Legal & Compliance
Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Legal Head to provide end-to-end legal support, both locally and internationally. The ideal candidate will have expertise in drafting and managing contracts, ensuring compliance with global and local laws, and developing standardized legal frameworks for employees and clients. Additionally, this role will handle labor law matters, court disputes, arbitrations, and other legal issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Legal Leadership & Advisory:
- Provide ongoing legal guidance and strategic counsel to senior management on business initiatives, risk, and corporate governance.
- Manage corporate intellectual property (IP) portfolio and provide advice on protection strategies.
- Oversee all legal matters pertaining to the company's operations.
Global Contract Management:
- Draft, review, and negotiate client-facing agreements including Master Service Agreements (MSA), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA), Service Agreements, and Payment Terms.
- Ensure contracts adhere to global standards and local legal requirements.
- Develop and maintain contract templates and workflows to standardize global operations.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Oversee and ensure legal compliance across all jurisdictions where HYI.AI operates.
- Monitor regulatory changes and proactively update company policies.
- Lead the management and resolution of all legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and settlement negotiations.
- Represent the company before various legal forums, including courts, labour tribunals, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), and other relevant authorities.
Employee Legal Frameworks & Labour Law:
- Draft, review, and maintain global-standard employee documentation, including offer letters-Appoi, appointment letters,NDA and employment contracts.
- Ensure all employment practices fully comply with local and international labour laws.
- Advise the HR department on employee relations, disciplinary actions, and termination processes to mitigate legal risk.
Corporate Governance & Advisory:
- Provide ongoing legal guidance to management on strategic initiatives and business decisions.
- Support corporate governance, dispute resolution, intellectual property, and other corporate legal matters.
Legal Matters & Dispute Resolution:
- Handle court matters, labor law disputes, arbitrations, and legal notices.
- Represent or coordinate with external counsel on litigation and regulatory matters.
- Address legal issues related to NCRT, labor compliance, and any other jurisdictional or contractual disputes.
Documentation & Legal Workflows:
- Create structured workflows for contract approvals, compliance checks, and employee documentation.
- Ensure proper record-keeping of legal agreements, compliance reports, and dispute resolutions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); an advanced degree (LLM) in Corporate Law or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in corporate law, with a significant portion in a leadership role, preferably within a global technology or consulting environment.
- Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating complex international contracts (MSAs, NDAs, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of international business law, labour laws, compliance regulations, and corporate governance.
- Demonstrable experience handling litigation, dispute resolution, and appearances before courts, labour courts, NCLT, etc.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate independently and lead legal strategy in a fast-paced, global environment.

The Operational Risk Compliance (ORC) organization exists to keep our customers and partners safe, protect associates, and ensure legal and regulatory compliance. We coordinate the aspects of product transactions that are regulated (distribution, shipping, sale, and import/export). Global Solutions and Risk Compliance (GSRC) is the operational arm of the ORC organization. This involves analyzing product import documentation and flagging hazardous risks. We are also responsible for keeping Amazon customers safe and informed by coordinating actions around worldwide program teams to classify products and ensure Amazon's product listings follow regulatory and legal compliance guidelines. These actions include removing products from the site and from our warehouses, and contacting customers with pertinent sustainability information. The ORC team partners with GSRC supports regulatory compliance requirements for Amazon's worldwide programs such as Dangerous Goods, Global Trade Services, Transport Risk Compliance, Sustainability, Extended Producer Responsibility, Chemical Safety Compliance and Food Safety. GSRC has offices across India, China, Poland, Romania, Jordan, Philippines and Costa Rica and supports compliance related needs for worldwide Amazon marketplaces.
Key job responsibilities
A Manager in GSRC team typically manages a team of up to 20 people. The role can also require managing a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Individual Contributor (IC) that acts as support function for teams. Candidate will also be expected to interact with counterparts in other geographies and share best practices across the program and cross program. The basic responsibilities include, but not limited to -
- Own business metrics and processes, aligned with business goals; Implement KPIs(Key Performance Indicators), metrics, audit processes, and best practices to track, maintain and exceed productivity (TPH) and quality (DPMO/defects/internal audit scores) as per service level agreements. Actively manage capacity and triggers for investigations to balance supply and demand.
- Contributes to goal settings for direct team members in lines with process goals.
- Responds to escalations/analyzes data; highlights trends and gaps, and prepares data for business meetings/reviews.
- Analyze defects and develops programs that fix root causes and work with other support/tech/process excellence teams wherever required.
- Build and scale process-related solutions that have metric impact through multiple projects and automation; drive adoption of solutions across teams.
- Review SOPs, processes, and tools to ensure that proactive changes have a positive impact on process and team performance.
- Prepare and share scorecards monthly following leadership aligned timelines, ensuring effective performance management and optimum employee experience. Acknowledge and reward strong performers.
- Guide new joiners to meet training goals during onboarding and training phases, providing coaching as necessary.
- Recruit top-quality reviewers/classifiers and develop their skills by setting SMART goals and driving developmental plans. Provide regular coaching and feedback to help them grow in functional and leadership skills, expanding team capabilities which provide growth opportunities for future leaders.
- Ensure direct team members adhere to their schedules by punching in and out on time daily, accurately tracking their activities as productive or non-productive and applying leaves on the amazon portal to avoid impact to Utilization and productivity.
- Additional responsibilities may involve taking part in analyzing data trends for planning for the program, ensuring process hygiene for multiple functions, onboarding new processes and running cross program initiatives regarding people engagement.
Basic Qualifications
- Graduate in any stream
- Experience: Minimum 4 years in managing people, interacting with customers or stakeholders
- Minimum 2 years in independently managing a function
- Responsible for performance and development of a downstream team of at least 15 to 20 people in operations
- Strong Analytical ability with good verbal and written business communication
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

- Qualifications: Graduate in any stream Overall work experience of minimum 6 years
- Strong Analytical ability Good in verbal and written business communication

What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Research, monitor, translate & interpret the customs duty laws and tariff changes, evaluate the content accuracy, and conclude on landed cost content calculation decisions and actions.
- Maintain existing customs tariff and landed cost content for assigned countries by monitoring customs law changes.
- Maintained accurate, complete, and timely updated customs tariff content.
- Contact customs department to source the customs duty, taxes, and compliance requirements.
- Document research findings in required format and tools.
- Conduct web and subscription service research and be active with all the global trade news.
- Meet monthly deadlines to incorporate research findings into Avalara tools.
- Effectively work and communicate with team members to accomplish specific tasks on a timely, efficient, and productive manner.
- Open to accepting additional responsibilities when required.
What You'll Need to be Successful
- MBA (International Business/Finance)
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
