Role Description

Key Responsibilities
Background Research & Documentation
● Conduct background research on relevant policy issues, government schemes, and institutional structures.
● Draft policy briefs, notes, and internal memos to support decision-making and advocacy efforts.
● Assist in documenting meeting discussions, follow-up action items, and project updates for internal and external stakeholders.
Stakeholder Mapping & Meeting Support
● Maintain a live database of key government stakeholders and institutional partnerships.
● Support the scheduling, logistics, and facilitation of meetings with government departments and technical institutions.
● Record minutes of meetings and ensure timely sharing of discussion summaries and next steps.
Project Coordination & Reporting
● Assist in preparing roadmaps, dashboards, and trackers to monitor project milestones and progress.
● Compile and analyze inputs from internal teams and government partners for regular progress reports.
● Ensure accurate and up-to-date reporting aligned with government priorities and timelines.
Presentation & Communication Support
● Create visually compelling presentation decks, summary documents, and knowledge products for use in government consultations.
● Support internal teams in developing talking points, meeting briefs, and communication materials.
Insight Generation
● Analyze trends, feedback, and gaps from government interactions to generate actionable insights.
● Contribute to creating recommendations and learnings to improve engagement strategy and alignment.
Requirements
Knowledge and Technical Skill s
● Experience:
○ 1–3 years of experience in government relations, research, public policy, or project coordination.
○ Prior experience working with or engaging government stakeholders is highly desirable.
○ Proven experience/education in labour and livelihoods is preferred—familiarity with construction, informal sector, or social protection policy landscape in India.
● Education:
Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field. A master's degree is a plus.
Technical & Functional Skills
● Strong research and analytical abilities; comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative data.
● Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
● Ability to create well-structured documents, reports, and visual communication materials.
● Exposure to tech-based project implementation or MIS tools is a plus.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
● Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask across diverse workstreams.

What you will do
As Site Public & Government Affairs Advisor, you will:
• Lead Policy Engagement: Develop and execute a robust public policy strategy focused on Karnataka, while also engaging with stakeholders across India.
• Advise Leadership: Provide strategic counsel to business leaders on policy matters, offering actionable insights and solutions.
• Monitor & Influence: Track and anticipate political, economic, and regulatory developments, delivering timely analysis and recommendations.
• Shape Advocacy Plans: Understand emerging policies and regulations and craft effective advocacy strategies aligned with business goals.
• Support Executive Engagement: Guide senior leaders on geopolitical and regulatory landscapes, and coordinate advocacy efforts with internal teams.
• Drive External Relations: Represent ExxonMobil in interactions with government bodies, trade associations, academia, and other external stakeholders.
• Enhance Community Impact: Oversee local community contribution initiatives, aligning them with advocacy and business objectives.

About you
Skills and Qualifications.
• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, business/public administration, or related field. 12–15 years of experience in media, public relations, or trade bodies, with a strong track record in coalition-building and stakeholder engagement.
• Local Expertise: Deep understanding of Karnataka’s policymaking and regulatory environment, with established relationships at state and city levels.
• Strategic Mindset: Proactive, solution-oriented thinker with a bias for action and strong ownership.
• Collaborative Spirit: A team player who supports colleagues and values cross-functional input.
• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Proficiency in English and Kannada is essential.
• Political Acumen: Ability to navigate complex regulatory and political issues with confidence and clarity.
• Flexibility: Willingness to participate in meetings and events outside regular working hours when needed.
