Education:

Indus Action seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Executive, Government Relations, to support our engagement efforts with central and state government stakeholders across key verticals like livelihoods, social protection, and construction worker welfare. The Executive will play a crucial

supporting role in background research, policy documentation, stakeholder mapping, and project coordination to ensure alignment, transparency, and smooth collaboration with government partners.

Key Responsibilities

Background Research & Documentation

● Conduct background research on relevant policy issues, government schemes, and institutional structures.

● Draft policy briefs, notes, and internal memos to support decision-making and advocacy efforts.

● Assist in documenting meeting discussions, follow-up action items, and project updates for internal and external stakeholders.

Stakeholder Mapping & Meeting Support

● Maintain a live database of key government stakeholders and institutional partnerships.

● Support the scheduling, logistics, and facilitation of meetings with government departments and technical institutions.

● Record minutes of meetings and ensure timely sharing of discussion summaries and next steps.

Project Coordination & Reporting

● Assist in preparing roadmaps, dashboards, and trackers to monitor project milestones and progress.

● Compile and analyze inputs from internal teams and government partners for regular progress reports.

● Ensure accurate and up-to-date reporting aligned with government priorities and timelines.

Presentation & Communication Support

● Create visually compelling presentation decks, summary documents, and knowledge products for use in government consultations.

● Support internal teams in developing talking points, meeting briefs, and communication materials.

Insight Generation

● Analyze trends, feedback, and gaps from government interactions to generate actionable insights.

● Contribute to creating recommendations and learnings to improve engagement strategy and alignment.


Requirements

Knowledge and Technical Skill s

● Experience: 

○ 1–3 years of experience in government relations, research, public policy, or project coordination.

○ Prior experience working with or engaging government stakeholders is highly desirable.

○ Proven experience/education in labour and livelihoods is preferred—familiarity with construction, informal sector, or social protection policy landscape in India.

Education: 

Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Technical & Functional Skills

● Strong research and analytical abilities; comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative data.

● Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.

● Ability to create well-structured documents, reports, and visual communication materials.

● Exposure to tech-based project implementation or MIS tools is a plus.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.

● Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask across diverse workstreams.

● Collaborative, proactive, and willing to take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

• Lead Strategic Engagements: Represent ExxonMobil’s interests across a wide range of policy areas including energy, chemicals, taxation, trade, and more. 
• Monitor & Influence Policy: Anticipate political, economic, and regulatory developments, offering timely insights and strategic recommendations.
• Develop Advocacy Plans: Understand emerging policies and regulations, and craft advocacy strategies that align with business priorities.
• Advise Senior Leadership: Provide counsel on geopolitical and regulatory landscapes, and support executive-level government engagement.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with internal stakeholders—both local and global—to ensure consistent and effective advocacy.

About you

Skills and Qualifications.  


• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, business/public administration, or a related field. 12–15 years of experience in consulting, advisory, or government/quasi-government roles. Preference for candidates with a strong track record in policy analysis and advocacy.
• Policy Expertise: Deep understanding of central government policymaking and regulatory processes, with established relationships among key decision-makers.
• Strategic Thinking: Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Collaborative Approach: A team player who values input, supports colleagues, and thrives in a matrixed organization.
• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. Proficiency in Hindi, English, and preferably one additional Indian language.
• Political Acumen: Ability to navigate complex regulatory and political issues with clarity and confidence.
• Flexibility: Willingness to participate in meetings and events outside regular working hours when needed.

An ideal candidate is someone who can communicate and deal effectively with senior government officials / bureaucrats and ministers as well as internal teams to create a seamless flow of information to drive policies favoring the company and the industry. The person will support the SVP, Public Policy in identifying key policy issues, gather views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. 

Job responsibilities

  • Support SVP, Public Policy in identifying key policy issues, stakeholders and influencers towards achieving positive outcomes for the various businesses of InMobi. 
  • Maintaining and sustaining communication channels with industry leaders, policy makers, regulators at a central and state level
  • Help develop policy positions on economic regulations affecting the Internet and gaming industries in India and devise strategy to engage stakeholders
  • Identify, monitor, and analyze competition and trade policy issues in India and apprise SVP, Public Policy to chalk out the direction
  • Engaging directly with government, political leaders and policy makers and help with setting up meetings with senior bureaucrats and important decision makers in various ministries
  • Advise internal teams on public policy matters to guide development of products, services and policies related to these
  • Represent the company in meetings with internal and external stakeholders, if required
  • Essential qualifications

  • Masters degree level in related fields; passionate about internet, tech products and services
  • 10+ years of experience in working with government department and on public policy issues
  • Exceptional contacts in the policy making space
  • Exceptional personal, political, analytical, organizational and people management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Strong professional reputation in the industry for personal level of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity
  • Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in a relevant business or non-governmental organization or think tank, or in a political, governmental or regulatory context 
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed on complex technical and regulatory issues
