**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Partners with senior Business and Human Resources leaders in implementing and advancing a comprehensive DEI&C strategy that aligns with the global DEI&C strategy, business goals, Cummins culture, vision, and values.
+ Applies a DEI lens to ensure that talent management strategies, including those for attracting, recruiting, hiring, retaining, and advancing talent, are inclusive.
+ Analyzes quantitative and qualitative metrics and data insights to assess and support the achievement of DEI goals effectively.
+ Provides strategic leadership for the Employee Resource Groups (ERG) in coordination with Executive Sponsors. Facilitate the ERG goals, budget, programming, and business alignment of work objectives.
+ Maintains a strong awareness of DEI topics, leading practices, and trends; educates, coaches, and mentors others on the team, in Human Resources, and the business on DEI topics.
+ Leads, sponsors, and participates in global, cross-organizational project teams to design, improve, and implement DEI programs and initiatives, ensuring effective delivery and integrated solutions
+ Partners with Regional Leader and Human Resources Business Partner to drive a culture of inclusion, belonging,and psychological safety, often weaving in duty-of-care and cultural respect initiatives.
+ Maintain strong relationships with diversity training and consulting organizations.
+ Oversee DEI governance, including steering committees, policy compliance to ensure compliance with local regulations (e.g., anti-discrimination, affirmative action)
+ Collaborate with internal and external communications to embed and amplify DEI initiatives

About the role
The Project Manager – Inclusion will lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of inclusion-focused initiatives within Peepul’s programmes. This role will ensure that inclusive practices are embedded into teacher training, classroom instruction, curriculum design, and systemic reform efforts in partnership with governments. The ideal candidate should be able to bring together education expertise, creative problem-solving and stakeholder management, towards the creation, implementation, and impact tracking of high-quality initiatives towards improvement of the quality of education in the MCD.
The candidate will also play a supporting role in Peepul’s Phonics Pilot , helping to ensure that early grade reading instruction is accessible and effective for all learners, including children with diverse needs.
Responsibilities would include (but not be limited to):
Programme Design & Implementation
- Lead the design and execution of inclusion-focused projects across Peepul programmes (with a focus on gender, disability, socio-economic background, and language diversity).
- Support the effective implementation of the Phonics Pilot, ensuring inclusive strategies are integrated so that all children can benefit.
- Work with government partners to integrate inclusive education principles into teacher training, school practices, and policy frameworks.
- Develop resources, toolkits, and training modules for teachers and school leaders to promote inclusive practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key liaison with government officials, school leaders, teachers, and other ecosystem partners on issues of inclusion.
- Build partnerships with organisations working in the inclusion, special education, and early grade literacy space.
Capacity Building
- Train, coach, and support internal Peepul teams to integrate inclusion into programme design and delivery.
- Conduct workshops and sensitisation sessions for teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders.
Monitoring & Evaluation
- Develop and track indicators to measure the effectiveness of inclusion-focused interventions.
- Document and disseminate best practices, case studies, and lessons learned for internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge & Advocacy
- Stay updated on research, policy changes, and global best practices in inclusive education and early grade literacy.
- Represent Peepul at forums, conferences, and networks related to inclusion and education equity.

- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Work Experience: We value both professional and personal experience. Candidates with 6-8 years of relevant experience in project management, with specific exposure to gender mainstreaming, social inclusion, or equity-focused programs. Additionally, a strong understanding of gender concepts, frameworks, and tools which apply to government entities and familiarity with the Indian education system is highly desirable.
- Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (and local language, if applicable). Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across diverse groups. Adaptability, resilience, and ability to navigate complex organizational and field contexts. Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
