To monitor and regulate optimal utilization of resources to bring about comprehensive target achievement across all units. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES


Maintenance

  • Facilitating units for implementation of preventive and maintenance schedules for improving overall reliability
  • Conducting failure investigation to reduce equipment downtime & maximize plant up time availability
  • Accountability for strategic utilization & deployment of available resources to achieve organizational objectives

Inventory Management / Vendor Management

  • Follows records of inventory of spare parts and ensure optimum level of inventory across the units to avoid duplicate purchase
  • Assessing non-moving items stocks across Factories time to time and take appropriate steps
  • Identifies and develop vendors for upkeep and repair work of machinery and spare parts.

Initiatives /Miscellaneous

  • Responsible for taking initiatives on process instrumentation and automation
  • Coordination for quality systems implementation
  • Assessing Engg. Costs and processing thereto prior to its final approval stage.
  • Vetting overall Engg. And Materials budget in consultation with respective Factory Managers.

Target Achievement

  • Has overall responsibility of meeting production targets by proper planning and resource (Labour, RM, PM, Power, Fuel) utilization.

Operational Improvements

  • Responsible for bringing out new and better work techniques, by constantly exploring the existing systems for their possible improvements
  • Carries out initiatives towards reduction in operational cost e.g. By reducing wastages of material and energy

Process Efficiency and Effectiveness

  • Responsible for ensuring effective and timely implementation of new products and processes
  • Analyzes processes and installations with an aim to reduce cash overheads
  • Resolves internal constraints with minimal loss in efficiency

Compliance/Training

  • Ensures statutory compliances by keeping abreast about the operating laws and maintaining good business relationship with the authorities
  • Direct involvement in training and grooming of people including On-the-job training
  • Continuous awareness building among people on Environment, Health and Safety Aspects and spreading the Safety culture across the unit
  • Brining-in quality culture across the unit

Quality/EHS/Cost

  • Need to ensure FTR products and no recall, no customer complaint
  • Ensure adequate environment protection and ensuring all related Safety in plans
  • Preparation of Budget, Capex, optimising cost to have sustained operational efficiency

Work experience and education

B. Tech. (Mechanical/Electrical). 12-17 years of working experience in Production, Process, Engineering, Utilities & Projects.

    The Global Manufacturing and Engineering Manager is responsible for defining the Manufacturing Excellence/CI Strategy and program execution, the Smart Factory/Digital Strategy and program execution, the Global CapEx Engineering Management and The Global Process Engineering and Process Safety Program within the Castrol Supply Chain reporting to the Global Operational Excellence Director.


    Being part of the Global Operational Excellence Lead team you ensure seamless integration of processes, products and optimizations e2e with Supply Planning & Logistics.


    You will play a pivotal role in leading and optimizing manufacturing processes on a global scale. This position requires a strategic thinker with a very strong manufacturing background, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to drive operational excellence across diverse manufacturing facilities.
    You will be responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality production standards while implementing innovative manufacturing digital products and improved ways of working and efficiencies at our factories based on solid yearly funding for safe, reliable, high performance meeting all safety conformance in our assets.


    As a result, our key Manufacturing KPS (CPL, PCC/OCC, OEE; productivity, Energy intensity, Cash and Incurred CapEx) deliver at increasing targets and rise cost completeness of our assets towards Q1 performance.
    The role leads a global team of 6 and reports to the Global Operational Excellence Manager. The appointee will work closely alongside Supply Chain Directors, Global SGC Directors (Competitiveness, Industry & Marine, HSE&C) BP Stakeholders in HS&E and I&E Castrol Digital Program Leaders, Manufacturing Leaders and Engineering Managers.
     

    Deliverables:
    • Lead design and operating standards for Castrol plants and key 3rd party partners/JVs.
    • Focus on strategic production hubs to drive benchmarked competitiveness and multi-year improvement roadmaps.
    • Translate strategies into key KPIs: CPL, PCC/OCC, OEE, Yield, Energy Intensity, MAX Score, CapEx, and Cash Out.
    • Deliver and communicate findings/action plans from the external manufacturing benchmarking study (PIMS).
    • Steer quarterly MAX performance reviews and oversee Engineering Capital Committee and Smart Factory/I4.0 Governance processes.

    • Provide engineering functional support to Global Supply Chain for concept, basic, and detailed engineering of major projects.
    • Ensure process design and safety competence, particularly for lubricant processes; review and approve relevant MoCs.
    • Promote a loss-elimination mindset and support the growth of MAX/CI, digital, engineering, and process safety capabilities in plants.

    Essential experience and job requirements:
    • 10–15+ years of broad manufacturing and technical experience across multiple plants or above-plant level roles.
    • Proven experience in leading or steering large ($5–10M) engineering projects.
    • Skilled in managing process plant maintenance and ensuring asset integrity.
    • Demonstrated leadership with experience in managing large teams, coaching, talent development, and driving organizational change.

    **Role Responsibilities:**
    + Provide expert opinion /guidance for matters of criticality in trouble shooting in Shop Floor and Supplier places
    + Develop and have thorough knowledge of latest manufacturing processes, including ability to read Engr. drawings, machining, assembly, and quality control procedures.
    + Knowledge of Additive manufacturing, Casting/Forging, Machining process will be an added advantage
    + Assessment of Suppliers for Capability
    + Training & developing the MED team members
    + Continual Improvements (CIP)
    + Provide appropriate guidance to the team on solving the issues faced
    + Oversee smooth running of the Gauge Calibration section.
    + Monitor the functioning & output of the Gauge Calibration section
    + Ensure lessons learned are captured and reflected in ongoing work as appropriate.
    + Training compliance & developing the unionized employees on Pure Safety.
    + Completion of Tooling activities as per QMS objectives
    + On time completion of RLM/ECM on time
    + Closing of Audit Non-Conformances (NCR)
    + Creating Continual improvements as per QMS objectives
    + On time release of PRs for identified Tooling's procurement, for sale orders
    + Immediate trouble shooting of issues in processes
    + On time completion of assigned activities of the team members Process layout Verification and Approving
    + Verification of Tooling Drawings & PRs
    + Approval of Control Plans from suppliers.
