  • Definition of local specification of special machines as well as representing the SMB in the local investment approval process (e.g. release of requirement specifications, concepts, etc.)

    Required Education & Experience:

  • Graduate Degree in Engineering - Mech / Electrical / Automation with 10 - 15 years of experience
  • Technical background and extended knowledge and experience in special machine building.

    Purpose of this role is to drive and lead the delivery of the projects that comprise of manufacturing process design & analysis, product design optimization, cost reduction, product improvement projects that arise from the product sustainment & product development team across the product lifecycle and product teardown analysis.

    The position will be in the Product Sustainment team with a primary focus is to lead manufacturing engineering activity to support the development and launch of new products. This integrates product design and manufacturing, ensuring that new products are designed for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and scalability. 

    Lead the analysis, and benchmarking of competitive products via disassembly, should costing or other Value engineering methodologies. This role involves deep technical investigation into product architecture, materials, manufacturing processes, and cost structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering with an ability to translate teardown insights into actionable recommendations for product improvement and development.

    Objectives & Measurement

    Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:

    The following are the key responsibilities, and the successful candidate will work with line manager to create clear yearly objectives for themselves and team. These will be generated from the business strategic objectives. 

    Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Collaborate with product design teams to ensure new designs are optimised for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.

  • Process Development: Support development, and validation of manufacturing processes for new products, including tooling, fixtures, and automation.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimisation, cost reduction, and quality improvement.

  • Supplier Collaboration: Work with suppliers to ensure component manufacturability and quality standards are met.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, Fishbone, 5 Whys).

  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

  • Lead & execute comprehensive teardown analyses of internal and competitor products to evaluate components, materials, manufacturing techniques, and cost structures and drive value engineering (VAVE) opportunities 

  • Leverage advanced manufacturing technologies and simulation tools to innovate and enhance product and process performance.

  • Champion a zero-harm safety culture, promoting Weir’s safety-first behaviors in the Teardown lab maintaining proper tools, safety protocols and documentation standards

  • Communicate effectively across all levels, using presentations, dashboards, and stakeholder engagements to ensure collaboration and alignment.

    Education & Qualifications

  • Proficient in CAD software , particularly Siemens NX Teamcenter , and other engineering documentation tools.

  • Exceptional analytical problem-solving , and communication skills , with a demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate in cross-functional teams.

  • Strong background in Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma , and Data analytics is good to have

  • Experience

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, reverse engineering or product development.

    **Technical skills** :
    + Strong, in depth understanding of chemical processes and material properties related to plating.
    + Hands on experience in the electroplating process including nickel plating, nickel hard plating, thorough understanding of electroplating processes.
    + ability to set up and operate the electroplating tanks, rectifiers and associated equipment.
    + knowledge of plating chemistry, ability of safe handling chemicals, proper surface preparation, cleaning techniques like polishing, buffing, cleaning.
    + familiarity with different plating solutions, quality control methods, solution control and analysis, monitoring of plating thickness and ensuring consistency, thorough understanding of principles of electrolysis, current density, anode, cathode functions.
    + chemical compositions of the nickel plating baths, pH levels, additives and their impact of nickel plating quality, ability to use the instruments techniques, methods for the plating / coating thickness measurement,
    + Proven ability for problem solving - diagnosing the issues with plating quality trouble shooting of common issues like pitting, burning, poor adhesion and complex plating problems and corrective action implementation.
    + Understanding of the hazards associated with the plating process, chemicals , handling of the chemicals and handling procedures , awareness of environmental regulations , waste water treatment , disposal of associated hazardous wastes.
    + Experience in preparation for NADCAP audits.
    + training and mentoring of the processing engineers for the safety and quality best practices.
    **Ideal Candidate :**
    An ideal candidate is a skilled professional with expertise in electroplating processes, coating of aerospace components and assemblies.
    **Required** **Qualification:**
    + B.E./ B Tech in Chemical / Mechanical engineering/ MSc Chemistry with 8 to 15 years of experience in Electroplating, coating of aerospace components and assemblies
    **Preferred Qualifications:**
    + Experience in leadership role within the plating environment in aerospace supplier industry
    + Familarity with automated plating systems and advanced plating technologies
    + Certification in plating technology or related field
    + strong attention to detail and commitment to maintain high quality of safety and quality standards
    + Strong written and verbal communication and leadership skills
    + Ability to work collaboratively in a team oriented environment
    + Proactive problem solving approach and continuous improvement mindset
    + Ability to guide and lead team of engineers working for the process

    Our client is looking for a skilled Manufacturing Process Engineer to optimize production efficiency and quality in their state-of-the-art facility. This role involves analyzing existing manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and ensure the highest quality standards. You will work closely with production teams, quality control, and R&D to streamline operations.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Analyze current manufacturing processes, identify bottlenecks, and develop data-driven strategies for improvement.
    • Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes and technologies to enhance efficiency and output.
    • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all manufacturing processes.
    • Collaborate with the production floor to troubleshoot issues, implement corrective actions, and ensure smooth operations.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield, cycle time, and scrap rate, and report on performance trends.
    • Conduct root cause analysis for production defects and implement preventive measures.
    • Manage process validation and qualification activities.
    • Train production personnel on new processes and equipment.
    • Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging manufacturing technologies.
    • Contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement programs.

    This hybrid position requires a blend of on-site presence for hands-on process analysis and development at our facility in Delhi, Delhi, IN , combined with remote work flexibility for reporting and analysis.
