**A Day in Your Life at MKS**:
As a Scientist at MKS-Atotech, you will be a part of materials science department under Chemical and Physical Characterization (CPC) for preferred innovation partner in R&D as well as external customer. In this role, you will report to one of the Team Manager (Materials Science).
**You Will Make an Impact By**:

- You are responsible for independently conducting, analyzing, and reporting materials science investigations using advanced tools such as FE-SEM, XRF, and optical microscopy etc., while also handling assembly tasks such as soldering and bonding properties of printed circuit boards
- Partner with R&D teams in the development of new products and processes
- You will prepare and deliver quality reports, manage documentation to enhance customer satisfaction
- Ensure the operational availability of the laboratory equipment and troubleshooting of instruments
- Documentation of materials science processes and investigations according to ISO 9001/14001/45001/17025
- Safety is our top priority—lab activities are conducted in adherence to HSE requirements, including proper storage and handling of chemicals as per SOPs and MSDS guidelines, and the safe disposal of effluents
- Abide MKS Atotech compliance policy

**What will you bring to the team**:

- PH. D in Material Science/ Chemical Engineering/ Physics/ Chemistry with relevant 0-2 years of experience
- Result-oriented and independent work combined with a strong hands-on attitude
- Strong sense of ownership
- Willingness to learn, a positive attitude toward teamwork, and a flexible approach to embracing change
- Good communication skills in English
- Good user knowledge of MS Office software and communication tools (e.g. MS Teams)

**Preferred Skills: (Optional)**

Product engineering (PE) works with our design, systems and back-end (test/val) teams to ensure a product is designed for manufacturability and reliability. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:



  1. Development work in support of a broad range of Power devices (Buck converter multiphase controller, power stages, Power sequencers, etc.)
  2. Collaborate and work in a team environment with Design, Applications, Test, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality and Reliability in all aspects of new product development, production release to accomplish goals and objectives
  3. Design sHTOL, dHTOL, ELFR, BHAST, and PTC boards to qualify Power products
  4. Perform evaluation, debug and characterization of integrated circuits to ensure they meet the product requirement specifications and manufacturing requirements
  5. Work with failure analysis (FA) to determine root cause of any reliability and qualification failures
  6. Work with process and package technology development to develop and qualify technologies for new product development
  7. Work closely with the global manufacturing facilities to address customer specific product quality, yield management and cost reductions issues on mature products. Scope of work could include product spins and derivatives
  8. Work with planning team to ensure smooth device ramp post release to manufacturing (RTM)
  9. Qualify second source wafer fab, assembly / test (A/T) facility, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure device continuity of supply
  10. Perform test conversion, test time reduction, and yield improvements to achieve device entitlement operational transfer cost (OTC)
  11. Handle material builds post design release by working with manufacturing sites
  12. Drive any customer returns to full closure with a Root cause analysis



Minimum requirements




• Bachelor’s/ Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, ECE

• 2-5 years of relevant experience

• Strong technical background, with the ability to produce high quality technical documentation



Preferred qualifications




Solid understanding of analog and digital circuits their operation and analysis

Extensive hands on experience working with different lab equipment for taking data and / or performing device debug or failure analysis. For example, use of the curve tracers; return loss analyzers, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.

Experience of bench testing of op-amps, ADCs, mixed –signal circuits and digital circuits

Experience with bench validation and characterization PCBs

Experience with integrated circuit and device failure analysis

Experience with Eagle Test System or mixed signal ATE

Programming skills for automation of bench characterization equipment (LabVIEW/Test stand), along with C and or C++ for ATE

Extensive knowledge of statistics and tools to analyze large amounts of characterization data and determine and set production test limits and predict yield data

Have working knowledge of what is required to take a product from development stage to production



Ability to work in a team setup comprising of other functional groups

Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery

Demonstrated ability to build strong, influential relationships

  • Ability to work with Intermediate MS Excel is a must.
  • Should know Solid mechanics, Strength of materials, Material testing, Material models have used in their simulation

Our client, a renowned research institution at the forefront of technological innovation, is looking for a distinguished Lead Research Scientist specializing in Material Science to join their state-of-the-art facility in **Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh**. This pivotal role involves spearheading cutting-edge research projects, developing novel materials with advanced properties, and contributing to the scientific community through publications and patents. The Lead Research Scientist will manage research teams, secure funding through grant proposals, and translate laboratory findings into viable technological applications. Key responsibilities include:
  • Conceptualizing, designing, and executing research programs in material science, focusing on areas such as nanotechnology, polymers, composites, or advanced alloys.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of researchers and technicians, providing scientific direction and technical guidance.
  • Developing and optimizing synthesis, characterization, and testing methodologies for new materials.
  • Writing and submitting grant proposals to secure research funding from government agencies and private foundations.
  • Publishing research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and presenting at international conferences.
  • Collaborating with industrial partners to facilitate technology transfer and commercialization of research outcomes.
  • Ensuring compliance with laboratory safety protocols and ethical research practices.
  • Managing laboratory resources, equipment, and budgets effectively.
  • Contributing to the strategic direction of the research division and identifying future research opportunities.

The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of post-doctoral research experience. Demonstrated success in leading research projects, a strong publication record, and experience in grant writing are essential. Expertise in advanced characterization techniques (e.g., electron microscopy, spectroscopy) and materials modeling is highly desirable. This position is based in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh and requires full-time presence at our client's research facility.
