Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Registered Nurses for a Medical Research Nurse to join the research team within the Division of Medicine.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
This role requires a Medical Research Nurse to join Northern Health’s research team. The role will be responsible for the development, implementation and conduct of research projects within the Division of Medicine, namely within the specialties of Infectious Disease, Neurology, Renal, Rheumatology and General Medicine. The role will require staff to work collaboratively with key stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation and any associated trial partners. The role may require the provision of ambulatory clinical care to medical patients in conjunction with research activities.
This is a fixed term – full time position (80 hours per fortnight) until February 2026 with monthly accrued days off. Possibility of contract extension.
This role is responsible for:
- Effectively developing, implementing and managing clinical research trials – including recruitment, patient follow up, reporting and upkeep of relevant databases
- Assisting in completing ethics and governance applications for research projects
- Responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect clinical trial related care of patients and its associated data collection for the concurrent research studies
- Participate in the development and review of standard operating protocols relevant to the trial or trials.
- Provide education and supervision to staff within Northern Health to ensure safe care is delivered to meet the needs of complex and acute care within the Respiratory Care Unit and other ward environments. Inclusive of participants of Northern Health in associate trial or trials.
- Working autonomously & collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Current registration as Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency
- Minimum five (5) years full time equivalent post registration experience
- Hold a Master’s degree or other relevant post graduate education relevant to the specialty and/or research
- Experience and good working knowledge of clinical trials and its associated policies and processes.
- Proven ability to autonomously and collaboratively within the wider team.
- Good basic computer literacy, database upkeep and EMR systems
