**Job Description**:
The Retail Buyer at Trek plays a pivotal role in maximizing the return on inventory investment by ensuring that the right products in the right quantities are delivered to Trek stores at the right time. By managing stock availability, the Retail Buyer not only helps control inventory costs but also boosts customer satisfaction and drives sales growth.
Working closely with multiple stakeholders, including store staff, suppliers, Trek Wholesale partners, the Retail Buyer ensures Trek's amazing products are presented to Trek’s retail customers in the best possible way.
The Retail Buyer is responsible for executing store replenishment for Direct Owned Trek Stores (DOTS) and managing the flow of inventory into stores. This includes raising purchase orders for both stocked and non-stocked items and collaborating with key stakeholders to address supply issues. They also work proactively with stores on initiatives to reduce excess inventory and provide valuable feedback on replenishment and stock availability concerns.
Inventory Management & Store Replenishment (80%)
- Execute DOTS ordering for Australia, covering all vendors for the designated product/store portfolio (Trek and 3rd Party).
- Work closely with the Retail Buying Manager to analyze and implement stocking policy changes.
- Manage the product life cycle and facilitate the phase-in/out of new, old, or replacement products.
- Ensure master data relating to buying is maintained appropriately.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication (5%)
- Keep stores notified of supply issues that may affect product availability.
- Collaborate with store teams to drive inventory related initiatives aimed at establishing DOTS as “the best bike shops in the world”. This includes gathering product related customer feedback via sales staff.
- Work closely with stores to help facilitate in store promotional activities and campaigns.
- Ensure transparent and timely communication with stores, providing updates and insights on key developments and operational progress as needed.
- Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders to streamline processes and address any inventory/buying related challenges.
Supplier Collaboration & Relationship Management (5%)
- Develop strategies to address late or short-supplied orders to maintain >95% store availability across the stocked range.
Continuous Improvement of Buying Process (10%)
- Identify and address issues of excess stock and availability, proposing and overseeing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the Retail Buying Manager and Retail Purchasing Manager on initiatives to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the buying process.
