Responsibilities

The role will focus on technical study/analysis of client requirements in the Architectural Metal Works (AMW) industry and making proposals and estimates leading to Tender submissions for high-value projects.

Qualifications / Attributes

1. B.Tech. (Mechanical Engineering) from a reputed University
2. Not less than 5 years' experience in Metal Fabrication Industry as a Shopfloor Engineer, Site Engineer or Project Engineer
3. Aptititude and Skill-sets required for cost study and submission of cost-effective proposals / tenders for complex projects.
4. Candidates should be resident within the commuting distance of South Chittoor, Kochi.
5. Possession of a 2-wheeler with licence will be advantageous.
6. Should be reasonably strong in procurement activities and market trends with reference to Metal Fabrication industry.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Sourcing & Supplier Management:

• Identify and source Sheet Metal, Fasteners, Castings, Machining components aligned with organizational needs

• Negotiate with suppliers for best pricing, quality, and delivery terms

• Establish and manage long-term relationships with strategic suppliers

• Ensure execution of contracts with adherence to commercial and legal compliance (NDA, Warranty Agreements, Supply Contracts, etc.)

• Maintain ZBC (Zero Base Costing) and global benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies including supplier classification (Grow/Fix/Exit)

Cost, Quality & Delivery:

• Monitor and drive cost-reduction initiatives and VA/VE opportunities

• Ensure timely procurement with 100% compliance to EESL DOA and zero deviation

• Monitor supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality adherence, and cost targets)

• Collaborate with Quality teams to ensure supplier quality through audits and issue resolution

Strategic Initiatives & Risk Mitigation:

• Conduct market intelligence to track trends, innovations, and supply chain risks

• Develop contingency sourcing plans and mitigate supply chain disruptions

• Ensure preparedness for IATF audits and drive zero non-conformance

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate documentation of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier correspondence

Role Overview:

We are looking for a proactive and technically sound Sourcing Specialist to manage the development, evaluation, and procurement of mechanical and sheet metal components for our electric vehicles.

The ideal candidate should have strong understanding of manufacturing processes, vendor development, and cost optimization in the automotive domain.

Key responsibilities:

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers for mechanical and sheet metal components.
• Conduct market research and benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing and high-quality standards.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships to ensure consistent supply and performance.
• Coordinate with design, engineering, and production teams to define sourcing requirements.
• Review technical drawings, BOMs, and specifications to ensure supplier capability and part feasibility.
• Negotiate commercial terms, MOQs, and lead times with vendors.
• Monitor supplier performance on cost, quality, and delivery metrics.
• Support localization, cost reduction, and VA/VE initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience in sourcing or procurement of mechanical and sheet metal components (automotive or related industry preferred).
• Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, and surface treatment processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems and MS Excel.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, and proactive mindset suited for a startup environment.
