Position Summary :

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maritime Engineer to oversee and manage engineering projects related to maritime operations. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Indian Registration of Shipping (IRS) regulations, Tugboat chartering, and shipbuilding and maintenance processes. Key Responsibilities :


Compliance & Regulatory Affairs:

Ensure vessels meet Indian Registration of Shipping (IRS) standards and other applicable maritime regulations.

Liaise with regulatory authorities to obtain certifications, licenses, and approvals for ships.

Monitor compliance with maritime laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations.

Oversee shipbuilding projects, including design, construction, and commissioning.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for various vessels.

Collaborate with shipyards, contractors, and vendors for timely project execution and cost control.

Manage and negotiate tugboat charter agreements, including operational and financial aspects.

Monitor tugboat performance and ensure adherence to contract terms.

Coordinate logistics for tugboat operations, including crew management and fuel supply.

Provide engineering support to enhance vessel performance and efficiency.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to marine machinery and systems.

·   Execute basic & detailed engineering for shipboard electrical systems (newbuild & retrofit).

·    Prepare and review electrical drawings, layouts, cable schedules, SLDs, and MTOs .

·    Conduct load flow, short circuit, and protection studies using ETAP .

·    Ensure compliance with Class Rules, SOLAS regulations, and FFS (Fire Fighting Systems) requirements .

·    Provide engineering support for cable sizing, breaker selection, relays, starter panels, and sequential logic circuits.

·    Support retrofit/upgrade projects (BWTS, scrubbers, automation).

·    Review 3D models using Navisworks for electrical integration.

·    Liaise with classification societies, clients, and multidisciplinary teams for approvals.

Guide project teams to ensure timely delivery of electrical design deliverables .


Qualifications

·   4-10 Years’ Experience (Marine Engineering / Consultants are Preferred)

·   Bachelor’s degree in electrical & Electronics Engineering / M. Tech in Power System Engineering

·   Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD 2D, AutoCAD Electrical), ETAP, and Dialux (Lighting Software)

·   Experience with 3D Modelling software (Plant 3D) and Navisworks for layout/model reviews

·   Strong knowledge of Class Rules for newbuild ocean-going and inland vessels

·   Good understanding of SOLAS and FFS rules for marine safety and compliance

·   Proficiency in ETAP (load flow, short circuit, fault analysis)

·   Advanced skills in MS Excel (tabulations, load lists) and MS Word (reports)

·   Familiarity with PLC basics, automation, and sequential logic circuits

·   Ability to read and interpret SLDs, circuit diagrams, and P&IDs

·   Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail

·   Excellent communication skills in English (written & verbal) and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
