The Embedded Systems Manager for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting modules and applying life cycle management principles and upholding established design practices and quality processes throughout development.
This position reports to the Head of Life Cycle Management & Group Manager and is part of the R&D Hardware/Systems Development team located in Bengaluru - BDC and will be an on-site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
+ Provide strong leadership and guidance to the Embedded team, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
+ Drive the design and development of Beckman Coulter Diagnostics new and on-market products and ensure that all software associates, processes, and products remain aligned with worldwide medical device regulations and guidance while following Beckman's internal procedures
+ Oversee the entire embedded systems development lifecycle, from requirements to testing and release
+ Independently own and drive multiple critical work streams; this includes vision/direction setting, overseeing the overall planning and execution toward clear objectives with measurable key results
+ Provide hands-on technical leadership on multiple fronts (architecture/design, code reviews, and incident management)
+ Mentor and develop team members, ensuring their growth and career progression.
+ Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineering, software engineering, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing.
The essential requirements of the job include:
+ Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 12+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 10+ years of experience, including 3+ years leading people
+ Expertise in C/C++, RTOS environments, and embedded debugging tools like oscilloscope, JTAG Debugger and Logic Analyzers.
+ Strong understanding of microcontroller and SoC architectures (ARM Cortex, TI, NXP, etc.).
+ Hands-on experience with embedded protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, USB) and hardware interface debugging.
+ Exposure to FPGA development, simulation, and integration with embedded systems.
+ Ability to develop strong teams, strategically deploy resources, and enable a positive team culture
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
+ Medical device design & development or IVD instrumentation, such as clinical chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, urinalysis, molecular microbiology or flow cytometry systems is a plus
+ Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA Class II).

● Selection and integration of all active, passive components, micro-controller, processor w/peripherals and power components.

● Work on improving the efficiency of the power distribution and consumption.

● Work on designing the wiring scheme of the whole autonomous system.


Who you are:

● Masters or Bachelors (with 8-12 yrs exp) in Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Instrumentation/Electrical & Electronics/Embedded Systems with relevant experience in industrial R&D Projects.

● You have the following technical skill sets:

o Expertise with latest Gen Cortex A and M series microcontroller/processors, Nvidia Orin/Jetson platforms

o Expertise with C,C++ and python programming

o Expertise with digital electronics (BJTs, Mosfets, Amplifiers, OP Amps etc)

o Knowledge of different communication protocols such as I2C,Ethernet(TCP/IP,UDP), EtherCat, CAN etc

o Good Understanding of Electronics Circuits and Schematics

o Expertise with RTOS (FreeRTOS/VxWorks etc)

Role Overview

We are seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to join our team in Bengaluru. The role involves developing and optimizing embedded firmware in C/C++ for micro controllers, integrating and interfacing precision sensors using I²C and SPI protocols, and implementing sensor data processing algorithms such as Kalman and complementary filters. Key Responsibilities:



Develop and maintain embedded software for CPU targets .



Implement, test, and
troubleshoot networking protocols, including IPv4, IPv6, switches, routers, and
SNMP.



Work extensively
within the Open BSD environment (similar to Linux/Unix) for system and
application development.



Apply cyber security principles to ensure the
integrity, confidentiality, and availability of systems.



Collaborate with
cross-functional teams to define system requirements and deliver high-quality
solutions.



Perform code
optimization and ensure adherence to best practices in embedded software
development.



Qualifications:



Proven experience in
embedded development on CPU targets.



Deep knowledge of
networking protocols, including IPv4/IPv6 ,
switches, routers, and SNMP .



Proficiency in Open BSD environments or similar
systems (Linux/Unix).



Strong understanding
of cyber security practices and principles.



Excellent
problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team
setting.
